It's got nothing to do with Lupul fandom Nik. I've been getting those verdammte back spasms since before Lupul was even born? They are not fun. Worse than labour pains.

I sympathize. I too suffer from the occasional bad back and I know they're seriously unfun. Anyways, I was just joking.

Just for the record, I thought the joke was very good.

Carlyle is not as impressed with Gardiner so far as we are apparently - or so he says:

I gotta wonder whether this is the beginnings of another Bobby Ryan type of situation in terms of Carlyle's motivational tactics.

It does sound harsh.

I don't think it means he has it in for Gardiner though, as some are suggesting, but it does seem like Carlyle sees Gardiner as one of those guys who needs a bit of "tough love" in order to raise his standard. Sort of like the kick in the butt Eakins gave Kadri last year...

Carlyle is just trying to keep Gardiner grounded. Not let the hype go to his head. Gardiner is pretty full of himself.

Well, in that case I really do apologize LHF.

That's how I see it too.

Fwiw Ryan said recently he owes a lot to Carlyle in terms of pushing himself to be the best he could be back then and that Randy only had his best intentions in mind.
