Nobody can say they didn't compete or show real heart here. Tough loss, tough series. Ran into hot goaltending.

We'll get 'em next year.

hmmm Leafs seem to always run into hot goaltending 🤔

Craig Button had it right the other day after game 3. Listening to Marner post game makes me wanna puke. Can't admit for what you get paid you haven't sucked and like Craig said not only him and it's not a one off. They haven't shown up in the playoffs for 4-5 years. Time for a change and like I said if there isn't any with the core I will remove myself from this site and make a few of you happy. Soft bunch who excel in the regular season but different animal in the playoffs and some of these guys don't have what it takes. We have wasted a great opportunity the last few years. Overhaul is needed and hopefully comes.

Marner and Matthews aren't going anywhere.  Tavares too.  Nylander doesn't deserve to, but they need a better defense so if the right defenseman became available I could see it.

I wouldn't bet on that. If management is smart they need to ship one of them off. Or both. Team has more talent than a lot of teams but what has that got us. SFA. You look at other teams, less talent, more grit and then advance further than us. It doesn't take a team of talent to win it takes players who will do anything to win. These conceded fks can't even admit when they sucked. We've mortgaged a lot of the future and we really aren't any further than prior years. Matthews may be gone after next year and maybe for nothing so send him off get a boatload for him and move on. Marner and his attitude can follow.

They aren't unloading a Hart winner or a 99-point Selke guy unless and until the players say they want out.

Also next series will be full of penalties. I guarantee it. All of a sudden the Panthers will magically become a highly penalised team again.

Overall this team is just too GD soft

Said it a thousand times but funny thing is some don't think so. But each year we are always back in the same position and questioning the teams toughness. That and lack of scoring again.

How can you possibly question their toughness in this series?  They went toe to toe.  They stuffed Tkachuk pretty much.  They had all kinds of big hits.  Toughness wasn't the problem.  Scoring, or lack thereof, absolutely.
Same bullshit from the same posters. Don't waste your time. No heart, not tough, blah blah blah. They're all happy now because they feel they're justofied. The difference between winning and losing is so tight. Leafs ended up on the wrong side. Oh well.

When I say toughness I mean making it difficult hitting people getting in their face at the end of plays whatever. Teams do it against us and we just take it. I'm not knocking the effort tonight but the team is easy to play against because opponents know there's nothing coming back at them. As much as I hate guys like Gudas Bennett those are the types of players you need in the playoffs. I didn't see them getting hit. Bennett still running around hitting people and hard both of them for that matter. Bennett should have been targeted after taking out Knies. That's what I'm getting at.

This was not Dubas. He did a masterful job at the deadline addressing everything we all said was needed.

I hope they keep him

Yep same bullish* from some of you as well. Think everything is great. Where are we now Guilt Trip? They were lucky to get out of the 1st round. You guys keep ragging on me but team hasn't really progressed much in 5 years. Keep praising them and thinking everything is rosy.

I know, I'd like someone to have socked Bennett.  But retribution is not a winning strategy.  I give Dubas credit, all his deadline adds were positive.

The silver lining, I have to hope, is Woll.  He plays the kind of style the Leafs need.  They have to get a goalie who can give them that kind of play.  Samsonov, we should remember, was doing all right in the series until he got hurt.  My hope is that Woll is the real deal and Samsonov can back him up.

We can absolutely have the core didn't produce enough finish discussion but they certainly produced enough chances.  Our worst defenseman was a guy who is an important piece of our top 4 moving forward although I though McCabe was good the last two games.

Toughness absolutely should not be a discussion we are having right now.

Game 3 was the only game they really deserved to lose in this series but Florida also  gets full marks for winning.

Woll absolutely cemented that ge should be one part of the tandem for next year.  My preference would be Sammy + Woll but I'll keep an open mind.

Who says no to Nylander + for Hellebyuck

I just couldn't believe the 98-99 leafs team went further than any of these recent leafs teams.....

98-99 leafs team should be the blueprint of a good playoff team.

It'll be interesting to see if Matthews has been playing hurt all year.

We will finally be able to put the wrist vs back debate to rest.

Biggest disappointment was it took Game 4 and 5 to play like they wanted it

They were pretty good in game 1 and 2. It just didn't go their way.
They had 1xbad game, that's it.

They had one bad game, which went to OT, and by the end were playing their #3 goalie(Who did everything you could want him to but it wasn't enough). They lost three one-goal games. It's a tough beat and the spark Knies gave them, to me, was a real indication of how they really do need more young talent on the team so they don't have to rely on the ZAR's and Lafferty's of the world but overall I think the team made solid progress this year and I think they've got something to build on for next season.
