I'd really like to see the Leafs in on Ben Myers but not being able to go crazy on performance bonuses (for cap reasons) like some other teams might probably keeps them out of top contention.

Seeing he's from Minny I think they'll def have the inside track. I've read it's between them and the Red Wings. I'm sure Dubas will kick the tires and while we are def a longshot he would potentially get a chance to play on a team with Matthews, Marner, JT etc. That could have some appeal to him. Storied franchise, some of the best players in the world, Knies will be going there sooner or later. Who knows?

Enh. As we've seen over the years, clearing a contract spot isn't so difficult. Minor league depth types can always be moved out when necessary.
 
A player they liked while scouting Alex Steeves, and supplementing a dearth of draft picks.

Let's just say he was drafted in 2018 and has progressed to the point requiring a decision and got an ELC so we can see how he does the pro level. Does that feel better?
