SCF: Florida Panthers vs. Edmonton Oilers

4-3 as Panthers starting to take over the game
A relatively rare low-high cycle goal from them as the Oilers got baited into clearing the slot for OEL

Tkachuk might be cooking

McDavid is taking it back to Edmonton

After 3 games, 3 points and questions of his ability to step up when it matters most.

After 5 games, 11 points, and has had one of the most productive playoffs in NHL history.

He's a freak.

None of our stars have done anything like what McDavid is doing.  8 points in his last 2 games in a Cup Finals.

While I share all the same frustrations about our guys, I'm not sure anyone in any sport could do what McDavid is doing right now.

What a play by Tkachuk and what a terrible play OEL. OEL gave up on the play.

It looks like he may have thought the puck went in. Ultimately I don't think it would have changed anything even if he was engaged.

20 seconds left, Tkachuk sure as hell didn't give up on that play. I would be pissed watching that replay if I was him.

It's absolutely true.  McDavid is by far the best player in the world.  But it was also Draisaitl doing it on one leg last year. We have also seen MacKinnon go off from big playoffs.

It's just generally frustrating that we have four players making within 1.5M of McDavid when none of them (including Matthews) have shown that extra gear to take over playoff games.  Maybe we kind of saw that in Game 2 against Boston where he took over the game but watching Edmonton try and claw back in a Stanley Cup Finals...they were our Western Conference "yeah they haven't done anything either" team.  The reality is Edmonton has won multiple playoff rounds beyond this run and we are stuck running back the same roster year over year with the same inefficient results.

Yeah, what an incredible save.

Yeah, full marks to Tkachuk on that play and the hustle he beared down with to stop that from going in.

I did have to wonder though if he was better served having the net knocked off the moorings than being unlucky having them come down right back into position for McDavid to hammer one home past him, where he was clearly tired and frantic to get back into position.  19 seconds left with a draw in your own zone is not ideal, but sure beat the alternative that played out.

Well, I didn't think it would happen, but these teams have managed to make me somewhat interested in this series.

The Edmonton crowd is wild.  That the Leafs and Oilers were remotely compared to each other.  We mocked Ken Holland.  The Leafs are 1 year behind the McDavid rebuild and we are getting further away from this type of run.

Edmonton has had five coaches since the time Babcock started here in 2015. For awhile they looked liked a mess, and some of their signings (Koskinen! Campbell!) looked downright egregious. Goes to show how quickly it can all turn and, potentially, what a new coach can do, I guess. Granted it took five, but Im not sure why we were so hesitant to move away from Keefe.

Not sure about that overturned goal.  There has to be a better camera angle that showed that as clearly offside.

Florida looks shook at this point.  Edmonton has all of the momentum.
