Wtf is wrong with Rielly.  I get being mad about being shown up but that was unnecessary.  Maybe show up and don't play like garbage against Ottawa over and over again
WTF is wrong with you? Sorry I want that reaction...no reason for that bull#$#% slap shot either.

Good for you.  You can enjoy crosscheck if guys in the head.  Flipping moron.

I think that seals it for me.  I done with this site.
See ya...

Cool.  Enjoy being a dick.
Go whine somewhere else

Good example of why so many people do wind up leaving this site.

I think a lot of the "codes" in sport are stupid.  But showing up your opponent is something I would never condone.  Slide that in and celebrate your goal and win.

I'm perfectly fine with that heat-of-the-moment decision by Rielly. He deserves a suspension for that and will get one, but it's about damn time someone had some bite and just doesn't roll over.

I was gonna say in the heat of the moment he probably wasn't thinking about code. He was thinking Frig that guy for disrespecting me and my team.

He had a lapse of judgement.  Crosscheck him in the kidneys or drill him with a check into the boards.

The intent was fine.  The execution was poor.

Can't argue with that.

Are some of you listening to the SN panel and TSN of what Greig did? Everyone one of them said you shouldn't be doing that. I don't like seeing guys seriously injured but if you just shoot the puck none of that happens. Marty Biron says it looked worse than it actually was. My point being ok with it is what has been lacking with this team for years and that's some nastiness and again Morgan is one of the very few who seems to actually give a sh*t and will stick up for teammates etc.

No one is going to argue that what Greig did was OK. But you don't cross-check the guy in the head like that. I can't believe people are OK with that.

Fine with the play from MO.
Me too. Lots of complaints they don't show enough fight/emotion and when they do, well he shouldn't do it that way. Good for Rielly to say F you. There won't be one guy in that room that doesn't support Rielly

Cross check was unnecessary, but that play definitely deserved a response. That was bush league by Greig, and he knows it. Lucky for him it was Rielly out there. Other guys in the league would have done much worse.

Rielly will get a well deserved suspension for the cross check, but you can?t let that stuff slide.

He's one of the few on this team that actually shows some fun'n heart. It was unnecessary to do what Greig did. Should have crosschecked him lower and knocked out a couple chiclets. Game was over put the puck in the empty net and nothing happens. That was just a slap in the face to the Leafs is all that was.

Ya, permanently knocking out someone's teeth is totally called for because someone slapped a puck into a net.

Like Giroux said sometimes your emotions take over and that?s coming from an opponent. The reaction is what I liked but in the heat of the moment shit happens. You don?t show up the other team when you do this stuff happens.

I'm genuinely not sure I can ever recall someone taking a slapshot at an empty net in quite that manner before. Emotions got the best of Rielly and he crossed a line, but I think the vast majority of NHLers would agree that some sort of message should have been sent there.

Mo will eat a suspension and life will go on.

Exactly.

Greig should have at least braced himself for some sort of contact to be initiated after a play like that.  You don't hammer a puck in the net with 5 seconds left and expect to get back to the bench without some altercation.

Rielly's crossheck to the head was reckless, but going after Greig had to happen (like I said above, a lower crosscheck or hit into the boards).

Imagine the team let something like that go with no response.  They'd continue to live up to their reputation of being a bunch of wimps.

Love this from Keefe...like I said above..thexteam won't love the suspension but they'll love MO for getting him..hockey's a dirty game.

I have mixed feelings

Rielly's frustrated, emotional reaction to the slapshot showboat? I'm ok with that. I can understand it and appreciate it.

Crosscheck to the head? I'm not ok with that. League won't be either.

Leafs were down Giordano & Timmins and might be next game. They're going to be down Rielly for x number of games. That is not too smart either for a team in a wildcard position.

The hockey code is so stupid. So you get shown up with a snapshot into an empty net, that warrants a cross check to the neck?  If someone flips you off in the parking lot can you cross-check him in the neck too? Only in hockey do people seem to think this is fine.

You know how that showboat stuff could have been avoided? Play better and beat a shit Sens team.

He went to far on the hit, and will pay for it. I think a 3 gamer should be fine. But it's a leaf so expect a min of 5 games.

NHL.com: Rielly of Maple Leafs offered in-person hearing with NHL Player Safety
If the infraction might require a suspension of six games or more, the offending player is offered the opportunity to an in-person hearing. In this case, the player remains suspended until the hearing takes place. If the player waives his right to an in-person hearing, the hearing will be conducted by phone.

He's suspended immediately.
It might be 6 or more games suspension.

Currently in a wildcard position, if they were not already, losing their top dman, they're probably in a battle for a wildcard berth now.

If Giordano (lower body injury) & Timmins (illness) can't go:

McCabe Brodie
Benoit Liljegren
Lagesson Lajoie

Half of that D, along with both goalies, cleared waivers (no team wanted them for nothing) this season.

Crazy.

He made a big mistake cross-checking the guy in the head.  As he's a Leaf, he'll pay double or triple for it.

Like cw said, it may be emotional payback but it could cost the team a playoff spot.
