Big reveal on last night's episode of American Horror Story.

Good. I started watching the other day. I'm at episode 7 but still don't really have much of a clue what's going on, outside of the obvious haunted house story. Still waiting for it all to come together, I guess... if it does.

Sons of Anarchy ended season 4 last night with an incredible show.

I have to be honest, I thought it was a pretty weak show for them. I'm a fan but this whole thing seemed like it was building to a huge conclusion and then it fizzled with almost no appreciable consequence.

I still doubt that it does much in the way of Emmy voting. I still think it's a notch below Breaking Bad, Mad Men and Justified to name a few.

I'm kinda with you on that.  Not much happened in the finale.  They revealed the twist near the beginning, then the rest of the episode you just watched everything fall into place as expected.

Not only that but the whole device they used to
make sure Clay survived didn't even make sense. The Irish guys know what kind of an organization SAMCRO is, they know Clay could get arrested or killed at any time, but the only way they're willing to do this deal is if Clay is constantly around? I mean, this means Clay can barely even be a member of the club because if he catches a stray bullet then the deal with the Irish would be off.

It's the initial meet that mattered more so than an ongoing dependency on Clay I think, they had their protocol for that particular moment given who they trusted.

Likely, down the line, that won't be an issue ( well, unless the writers decide to make something else out of it ).

Lincoln Potter's bit at the end was pretty amusing, wouldn't mind seeing him back, Ray McKinnon's an interesting actor.

It was also interesting to see a reference to Pablo Escobar elsewhere in the forums, the creator of the show likened the Galindo CIA connection directly to him in an interview recently.

Nah, that doesn't work. SPOILER If it's just about making that initial meet and then the Irish are willing to deal with Jax then why would Jax go to the Hospital and tell Clay all he knows? Why not let him make that meet and then kill him? This was set up so that Jax can't kill Clay.

The Irish said they didn't know/trust Jax, that could change and make Clay expendable, all Jax knows at the time is what the Irish are saying has to happen to make the deal work in the here and now ( so to speak ).

Jax telling Clay makes some sense in that he has to have a reason to pull his President patch, Clay wouldn't let that go for no reason. Jax was leaning towards killing him right until he woke up, not sure why that was a big change for him given the threat to the MC and his family.

Also, Clay is a popular character and the powers that be may be thinking his arc could be more useful to the story otherwise. ( which doesn't make the writing any better, just a consideration ).

I agree in a general sense though, I thought it was a bit of a weak finale overall.

Yeah, that still doesn't pass the smell test for me. Again, as far as the Irish are concerned Clay got shot by unknown people. It easily could have been deadly. I just don't buy that they'd be willing to let a deal of this size and scope fall apart because of that.

Yeah, that's where I am. I'm fine with that reality, I just think it's a bit of a cheat to give 8 different characters a reason to kill Clay and then pull a "Oops, can't kill him because of Deus O'Machina".

The devil's in the details and Ares junk fell out... yeah it wasn't the best work I've seen from Sutters crew, it was almost like they felt they had to tie everything neat and tidy like they did for season 3, which Kurt actually talks about as something they recognized and tried to guard against but really, the tea was weak, though I do give him a big thumbs up for his portrayal of Otto.

Didn't hold a candle to Breaking Bad this year.

It's a great show. I definitely didn't expect that to happen that early. That seemed more like a season finale type reveal.

There's still a couple characters who haven't been truly "introduced" or developed yet, so it'll be interesting to see where they go with the final episodes.

Not quite.  I had forgotten about it, but remember when Opie shot Clay, and they blamed the black dudes on it, and Tig tried to run 'em down?  Apparently that girl that was killed was the daughter of some big time gangster.

I'm interested to see the Sons go up against some Bloods/Crips type street gang.

Sutter commented on that, it didn't seem like he planned on making it a major plot point for next season but they are having a think about who they'd like for an actor to play the part.

I'm interested to see what Sutter does with his part as Otto and his execution too.

Anyone else floored at the season finale of Boardwalk? MASSIVE SPOILER How in the world do they kill off Jimmy? It had the feel that Jimmy knew what was coming for awhile and he accepted it, for once someone was one step ahead of Nuck. Look for Chaulky to be the protagonist to Nuck next year with Jimmy doing good by Chaulky by giving him what he wanted and then some while Nuck did nothing for him.

I suspect that the 3rd season will center heavily on Al Capone's rise so there simply wasn't enough screen time for 3 major characters. Also, apparently the actor playing Jimmy wasn't happy with his pay and wanted an increase so that's one why of dealing with it.

In terms of the SOA finale I like it, but agree that all the build up led to very little in terms of closure. Kurt Sutter seems to have an aversion to killing off any major characters something that has shown throughout the series.

Boardwalk Empire now that was a great finale. We see just how far Nucky will go and who didn't see the land signing twist with Margaret coming. In terms of Jimmy his story had really come full circle with not much left to do. Was he going to go back and be Nucky's boy again? Probably not and certainly he wasn't going to have much power left after all that had happened.

One of my favourite feelings in life is when music gives me goosebumps. More often than not, this little Rachel Crow girl on the X-Factor does that to me. For anyone not following the show, I strongly recommend watching last night's performance. Rachel aside, there a bunch of other really good talent there too.

I went looking to see if anything had been posted about her. I have a 13 year old daughter and we have liked watching Rachel since her first audition. A "goosebumps" moment (in a bad way) for me was when she was knocked off the show. Her little breakdown was hard to see. BUT.... she is going to be a star and already has appointments set to meet with Disney in the next few weeks to talk about doing an album and movies. She is a really nice kid and has loads of talent. Her last song performed on x-factor was something incredible and did not sound anything like that of a 13 year old. She is quite an amazing kid.

Another game changer from American Horror Story this week. They're really just doing a full-on sprint to the end of the season.

I'm getting the feeling the Father will die in the season finale and a new family moves in for season two. Interesting concept if new people move in every season.

I think they can get by one more season with just him alive perhaps. But yeah, that seems to be the way they ought to go.
