TOP 5 PICK!!!

Just to be clear, Craig Button's list there isn't a mock draft, it's just a ranking of the top-60 prospects in his opinion. There is a difference. He's not suggesting that Grigorenko will be picked at 20 or Murray at 13. In fact, shortly after the draft lottery he posted a mock draft and had Grigorenko going 3 and Murray 2 (Forsberg was 4 and Galchenyuk 5, which is exactly what I'm hoping for).

With that said, it's still pretty out there to suggest that Grigorenko will be the 20th best player in the draft when all is said and done.

I think that the positioning of 20th represents the risk/reward equation.  On talent, Grigorenko appears to be in the top two, but there are concerns about his character and his commitment to play in the NHL vs. the KHL.  An additional complication is the suggestion that he had mono during the latter part of the season when his play fell off.

I think that most teams expect Grigorenko will either be one of the best players from this draft, or a total bust.

Article highlighting why Galchenyuk could be the riskiest pick of the draft, but also why he is ranked so high regardless.

And article from the same source about Grigorenko and why he's still a clear top-two talent in the 2012 draft class:

I really enjoyed that article, thanks for posting.

I don't know much about him, but from what little I've heard he sounds like he'd be a good pick. If Galchenyuk is available, I'd probably go with him though.

There's really not much to like about him, I just think Grigorenko and Galchenyuk have higher offensive upsides. And that's what I'm looking for with this pick.

I was under the impression that he was up there with those guys. Galchenyuk's injury is a bit of a concern, but if his projections are that much higher I'd definitely take the risk, in this case.

OK, I understand that.  Most teams go for BPA though, no?

Not necessarily. As cw wrote earlier, Burke himself said the other day that given how close the prospects are in this draft he might not exactly go BPA.

Logically, would this not also increase the probability of the Leafs trading down i the draft?
