Mimico is not Toronto, simply an abberation from Hamilton that ended up in our west end. LOL

I'm no geography expert but I'm pretty sure Mimico wasn't an aberration from Hamilton seeing as how Mississauga, Oakville, and Burlington separate the two.

Also I'm pretty sure Mimico is considered a part of Toronto. It's definitely significantly closer to TO than Caledon is.

Mimico pretty much borders the limits of the old city of Toronto (when it was Metro). Maybe he's talking about how Mimico is scuzzy like Hamilton? In that case it's pretty accurate.

Hamilton has come quite a ways in the past 5 years, and is one of the hottest real estate markets in Canada right now.  It's not the Hamilton of old.

It used to be a steel town, and that industry isn't around much anymore.  Hamilton is now one of the leading medical research cities in Canada, and that industry is fueling a whole new demographic for the city.

It's a hot real estate market because it's cheap, and it's cheap because it's scuzzy, and it's not close to anything and has limited transportation options. If you had the option to live in Hamilton or Burlington, you'd probably choose Burlington.

I have the option, and you're wrong.

It's hot because it's not scuzzy, and it is affordable in comparison to Burlinton/Oakville.  They are about 40 condo projects is various stages of go, and many of them are in the $350-$450 per square foot range.  You don't get away with those kinds of units in scuzzy areas.

The waterfront is in the process of being rezoned and developed, Mac is growing, and the city is landing industry that employs a more professional candidate.  GO service is coming to the downtown with trains to Toronto, they're building the station as we speak.

It's actually really interesting to be part of the gentrification...but I still live in the fancy suburb of Ancaster.

There's a reason they can sell condos for that price. What it can be in 10-20 years isn't what it is today.

Mimico was scuzzy the last time I was there which was in 84, so what do I know about it now. Probably will end up like the next Rosedale the way things change.
My nephew bought a house in Hamilton and loves it, so perhaps that has changed as well. Last time I was there was in the 70's when it was Steeltown.

Let's add Andre Deveaux to the list. He is in the Swedish Second Division gooning it up for Rogle BK. Before a playoff game he took a wild two handed slash at the skates of an opposing player and then hit him in the back of the head.

There is even a gif in this link.

Not much grey matter between his ears.

In other positive news, Matt Stajan is still in the NHL playoffs.

Was at a game in Germany tonight and David Steckel was centring a line of Danny Heatley and Steven Reinprecht for Nurnberg Ice Tigers

Out of all the stupid moves the Leafs have made in the last years, at least we didnt resign Bolland.  I just couldnt understand how a forward with some age and a slashed achilles was deemed to make over 5 Mills

You know, now that he's some other team's problem I've sort of come full circle on it to feeling bad about the situation. The next CBA has to have a better mechanism for walking away from bad contracts. What's going on with Clarkson, what has gone on with him, isn't good for players or teams.

Yeah. There needs to be something better than the current buy-out situation, or at the very least, not having signing bonuses be exempt from the buyout discount.

I agree with Nik on this, why should it be possible to not waive this guy to the AHL or buy him out. He is making more money in a year than most make in a lifetime. You would hope he would do the decent thing and retire.
In the real world things just don't work this way, we would either be fired for being a bum or have a decent golden parachute on which to land, but not 20 million and more

Once a season there should be a window where a team gets one buyout that doesn't count towards the cap, but they must pay the contract in full.

I think it'd solve the problem somewhat.

I think the only reason it doesn't exist is because the poor teams felt that it would be unfair because they won't want to pay money to have a player not pay for them and that teams like Toronto could eat buyouts happily.
