Brind'amour if he shakes loose. Boudreau if he doesn't.

Hard no on Boudreau.  Have you seen his playoff record?

I was big on the Boudreau train a couple of years ago. I don't think that's the voice the 2024 team needs though. The fan in me would still love to see him come in as an assistant, but that's admittedly pretty pipe-dreamy.

Boudreau is such a Leafs fan and it would be his ultimate dream but he's also almost 70 and not the picture of health, I don't want to see him having a heart attack behind the bench.

Boudreau as an assistant. Rod is the guy I would like but let's face facts. This team is not constructed well.
Totally not sold on Berube. He's loyal like Keefe. He kept running Binnington a few years back in the playoffs and he was terrible. The Blues ended up losing the series. I recall at the time they should fire him for doing that. It would be like Keefe putting Sammy in for game 7 while having a healthy Woll. Maybe it's time to go off the board and stop with the retreads. I don't know. I've heard the name David Carle form the U of Denver. Don't know much if anything about him but maybe there's a coach in the lower ranks that's right for the job. I guess we'll see soon what direction they're going.

They're not going to go from Keefe, an NHL rookie coach to another NHL rookie coach even if he's the most touted coach in college or whatever

Agreed. They need someone with experience, but who also isn?t a long-time retread like Boudreau. The Leafs should only be their second or third team. Not their first. Not their fifth, sixth, whatever. A coach who has shown some NHL success but isn?t so set in their ways and their system. I?m not sure if Berube is that guy, but he might end up being the best available option.

Since he got canned before the Jackets camp started, I think the Leafs would only be the third team Babcock's coached...

Here's a list of some recent NHL head coaches:
Craig Berube
Bruce Boudreau
Dean Evason
Gerard Gallant
Don Granato
Dave Hakstol
Todd McLellan
Joel Quenneville
David Quinn
D. J. Smith
Jay Woodcroft

I'm sure there are probably a few others.

I like Boudreau too but he's well past his best before date.
Maybe he could fix the PP as an assistant since he seems to really want to be involved.

None of them really excite me.

Here's some other coaches names I saw being bantered about
Rikard Gr?nborg
Jay Leach
Todd Nelson
Marc Savard
Brad Shaw
Marco Sturm
Mike Vellucci
Joel Ward
Ryan Warsofsky

I recall a few of them as players. I'm not very familiar with any as a coach.

Maybe others here can comment or have ideas.

Technically, it would be his 4th coaching stint in the NHL, and his 5th time being employed.

Why let a technicality get in the way of a beautiful reunion?

You know, reasons and stuff. Mostly, that it wouldn't be a beautiful reunion. I'm all for chaos, but . . .

RIKARD GRONBERG would be fun, but probably not at this state of the Leafs. Rebuild, yes. MLSE will want someone with a resume, the same way they got Treliving instead of a Eric Tulsky.

But if you wanted Marner to wave his no trade clause...........

Gallant is the only one who interests me. I liked Keefe, thought with a stud D or two we would have won against Boston.

Boudreau was completely right about the Leafs power play against Boston:

Honestly it's a bit hard to choose. I definitely don't want Todd McLellan but there's no star candidate.

If you want the best coach available, Q is the guy but there's some baggage there. I think all the rest are sideways moves but who knows?

There is a similar amount of 'smoke' around Berube right now as there was around Treliving last off season. He's got at least one post-season success story (better than the incumbent) but otherwise a bit meh.

Friedman said to keep an eye on today as a trigger day if anything were to happen because yesterday was the draft lottery and Keefe was being f?ted by the Brampton Hall of Fame.

internet rando with small town connections says so, and I'm inclined to believe it

Man what a crazy coincidence that someone with a stock image photo as their profile picture and who's aspiring to be a NHL insider and selling betting information to rubes JUST HAPPENED to be from the same small town as Craig Berube and knows all his hometown buddies. That's such a big break for him.
