WJHC (World Junior Hockey Championships) 2015

Sucks that Sweden is down 1-0, but Nylander looks pretty electrifying.

Edit: And he's in on the tying goal!

2-1 Sweden now. Nylander drew both penalties that the Swedes scored on.

Man I love Junior hockey.  3-3 Sweden and Finland late in the 2nd period.  Sami-bot Jr ties the game.

Sweden gets a 5 on 3 to start the 3rd period because a Finnish player who plays in the AHL lost his helmet and continued to play.  That's tough.

That Rantanen kid is projected to be a mid-to-late 1st rounder? This draft is insane.

The #1 and #2 scorers in the OHL didn't even get invited to the Team Canada selection camp.  They are both projected as top 10 picks.  This draft might end up being one of the best drafts we ever see.

And Sweden is playing without a top 10 draft pick defenseman in Kylington too.

Finland getting all the opportunity to tie the game that they can.  6 minutes of PP after the Sweden goal.

Crazy that they're 0-for-19 on the PP in the tournament.

They just keep trying to set up the one-time from the point and half-boards over and over again.

And Lindblom makes it 5-3 with a feed from that Nylander guy.  9 points in 5 games.

And just because of a vocal minority (including Cherry) who criticized the Leafs for not drafting Nick Ritchie

Russia over the U.S. 3-2.

Team USA, up until this quarter-final matchup, was the least penalized team in this year's World Juniors.  But, in the game against Team Russia, the Americans racked up a total of 16PIM, thus giving the Russians all the power play opportunities they could possibly dream of... and they converted enough of them to earn them the victory.

For the Americans, it was a case of too little,  too late.

Russia will now play Sweden in the semifinal.

Sweden over defending champion Finland 6-3.

Powerplays, powerplays, powerplays!  Doesn't Team Sweden have an advantage over Finland?  You bet they did...and counting.

Team Finland you say?  They had O goals in all their powerplay attempts in this tournament.  In this quarter-final game against the Swedes, they just couldn't convert.

The Swedes will now play Russia in the semifinal.

In the relegation game, Switzerland made short work of Team Germany in  a 5-2 victory.

This was Game1 in the Best-of-Three Relegation round.  Whoever wins this round will be given a spot in the top pool as towards next year's (2016) World Juniors.
The losing nation will be relegated.

Woohoo! 1-0.

I wonder if the red/white vs white/red schemes of the uniforms are throwing the players off at all.

For 3 minutes the Danes looked like they could hang with Canada...and then it really looks like men skating against boys.  I expect a lot of Canadian penalties in this game to try and prevent a blowout.
