2011-2012 NHL Thread

Boy that Kenny Hitch is one sneaky guy.

Everyone assumed he was taking over for the team still paying him. Fooled ya!

The 2-11 team knows they are screwed.. maybe they just feel they shouldn't bother firing a coach to pay him plus a new coach to come in and not likely improve things much.  That and/or it likely speaks to a full housecleaning coming shortly, starting with Scott Niles Crane Howsen.

I'm just amazed by their ability to draft duds each and every year.  Ten top 10 picks and they have Nash and Brassard to show for it.

I think they're also bad at development. They had Voracek too, and they traded him away for Jeff Carter before he could ever blossom. He's going to be close to a PPG player in the near future I think.

I just don't see that in him. I think, in terms of consistent levels of production, he tops out in the 55-60 point range. He may have a near PPG season or two, but, I really doubt he gets there on any type of consistent basis.

I'm not a big fan of Mike Johnson's work with TSN - anyone else?

His bland normality and lack of creepiness is a nice upgrade on Pierre McGuire.

I'd take McGuire over Johnson any day. Creep me out!

McGuire is good:

Check out how he expertly shames Toskala.

Those kind of "chops" can't be taught. Take a seat Mike Johnson.

I'm extremely surprised by Anaheim's slow start.  What's more surprising is that Getzlaf, who I think could/should/would be in top 5/10 in scoring only has 8 points in 15 games, while last year's top producing d-man Visnovsky only has 4 points.

Jagr currently tied for 9th in league scoring with 15 pts - impressive

Yeah I really thought Jagr would be a bust this season but he's doing quite well so far.

They are both killing my hockey pool  :-\

I get that the game is in Ottawa this year, but really they put Gonchar on the list?

Who cares, he won't be voted in.  We'll get Spezza, Karlsson and Alfie, and that'll be our representation.

I'm more interested in the rookie game.  Colin Greening should make it, and maybe Cowen.

Things are getting ugly in Carolina.  Maurice's job has to be on the line.

And does Staal ever look like garbage.  Wow.

Anything happen? Or just in reference to the score tonight and their record?

Staal has 5 points and is -16.  :-\

Just in reference to their score and record. They just collapsed in the 3rd and even Ward was showing his frustration.

Has Eric's hit on Marc had that much of an effect on him? That may be an explanation, but that's still really sub-par.
