TSNBobMcKenzie: 5 games for Marchand. "@NHLShanahan: http://t.co/jOlU4Iht Marchand suspension video."

I still don't see it as below the knee, but I guess it's splitting hairs.  It was a reckless hit and I don't have a problem with the suspension.

I do have a question though.  Does Montreal honour suspensions when Shanahan doesn't announce them in french?

Marchand has had a reputation for being a sometimes 'dirty' player, for someone who plays with an edge.  He's never been suspended (before the advent of Shanahan) for slew-footing (Piittsburgh's Matti Nieskanen), and a partial hit to the back of the head of another player.

He's really another POS of a player when he wants to be (giving one of the Sedins a facewash in last year's Stanley Cup final), the above-mentioned incidences, and now Salo (another Swede, by the way).

I'd like nothing better than for Marchand to be given some crap himself.

The Ducks aren't making the playoffs.  They aren't in desparate need for a goalie, certainly not for a stop-gap goalie until Hiller comes back.  They are either going to ride it out, or acquire some random backup goalie for a late draft pick to stem the tide.

According to some media sources, Ducks GM Bob Murray stated that if he were to make a trade or trade(s), it would not be to rebuild nor to acquire draft picks, but rather, to look ahead to next season.

The only player that will in all likelihood be traded first would be Bobby Ryan.  Murray would not want to upend the "heart and soul" of the team in Getzlaf or Perry unless the price was right.  Any trade involving the Ducks top players in terms of both value and salary isn't something that's going to be done so fast.

Real_ESPNLeBrun: Spoke with Howson. Gave Arniel benefit of doubt in Oct since team was missing key players... but 2 wins in last 11 games was last straw...

Real_ESPNLeBrun: Howson felt Arniel was running out of
things to try.... Howson was off to speak with players
now

Speakng if the Blue Jackets, a buzz making the rounds is iRick Nash's consideration of waiving his no-movement clause.

Nash is happy as a Blue Jacket, playing in Columbus, for the team that gave him a career.  However, if it will help the team, not hinder it, he would consider waiving his no-movement clause.

I agree with Julien about Alain Vigneault being a hypocrite.  Really, Burrows anyone?

I've never seen / heard an organization do as much whining / complaining to the media than the Canucks - it's a bit disappointing that they've been able to get the Bruins to stoop to that level too. Both sides need to shut-up and get on with it.

Only if you ignore the 2 game suspension he has this past March.

you know who I'm happy for?  St Louis.  Second in the west...not too shabby.  They have a lot of likeable players.

Agreed. People have been waiting for them to breakout for a couple of years now and it looks like it's finally happening. They might need a year or two of playoff experience before they become a legitimate threat there, but if Halak can do what he did with Montreal or if Elliott keeps up his ridiculous numbers, who knows?

Halak posting the clean sheet in his return to Montreal last night was very enjoyable. Classy reaction from the fans after the game as well. Somewhere Ron Caron was looking down and smiling. In a way I think it was appropriate that these two teams were playing each other shortly after Caron's passing.

It's also appropriate that the Habs suck now that the Leafs are improving.

I thought they had a good team going into this season...but then the way things started for them ..i figured that i'd misread them last year...glad they've turned around ....yet that still feels weird to say...given that i still remember hating them when the leafs and them played in the same division
