So Radulov jumps ship for Mother Russia so he can make Moe money then wants to jump back cause the team seems like a true contender and he thinks he can win a Stanley Cup. Can't wait what Don Cherry has to say about that.

Has Radulov even commented on this? I've only read Poile opened the door for him and hopes he might come back, said he hasn't even spoken with him.

No official comments from Radulov, but it's looking very likely that he will indeed come back.

I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I'm actually hoping he comes in and dominates.

Secretly I want it all to blow up so Suter becomes available... ;)

Well, if Radulov dominates then he'll command a higher salary when his RFA contract expires this summer, which will mean there's less space for Suter.

edit: Although that's not why I want Radulov to succeed, I just think it'd make for a nice story.

I'm a little ambivalent.  I like the Preds, hoping for them after the Senators.  But I don't like Radulov and want him to fail miserably.

But like Tigger, I'm hoping Suter goes to UFA so Ottawa can take a shot at him...

Re: More proposed rule changes...the "ringette" line...

The line comes from the game of ringette. It would run across the tops of the face-off circles. When coming out of the defensive zone, teams would have to advance the puck to the line before they could pass it to the far blue line.

It's a compromise between leaving the game as it is and re-instituting the red line to outlaw two-line passes. In theory, it would still allow for a stretch pass, but it would keep teams from firing the puck from deep in their end to the far blue line and simply tipping it to avoid icing.

It would add skill and encourage forechecking. Again, in theory.

The NHL removed the red line as part of a new rules package intended to open up the game. Part of the reason was to reduce trapping in the neutral zone. As strategy evolved, teams started firing the puck down the ice, and teams started trapping at their own blue lines.

Along with safety concerns related to increased speed, there were aesthetic concerns related to reduced skill. Some GMs and coaches want to re-institute the red line, but the worry is that neutral-zone trapping will return with it.

The theory with the ringette line: Teams won't be able to trap at the red line, because they are still vulnerable to the stretch pass. But they won't want to sit back at their blue line, either, because that stretch pass can't be made until the puck reaches the ringette line. They will have an opportunity to attack the puck carrier in the interim.

Plus...

Officials can wave off icing if they feel a team made an "attainable pass." But standards vary from official to official. Starting next season, players would be required to touch the puck to negate icing.

"I know our managers want to take the gray out of it and make it a touch pass," Campbell said. "If it doesn't touch, then it's icing.

Apparently Steve Mason hasn't been wearing the right goalie equipment for the last 3 years:

Top flight coaching and management they've had there in Columbus. Clearly, they're on the ball and on top of everything.

Oh yeah, idiots all around for sure.

is this a truly amazing season or what? No team is really locked in thier playoff seed maybe other than StLouis. Exciting final weeks for sure.

Three fights on the opening faceoff of the Rangers Devils game...

Crosby with 4 assists after 2 periods to give him 9 points in 3.667 games back.  21 points in his 12th game of the year.  That would have him at 10th in scoring on the Leafs.

That is pretty incredible. Pens wrecked the Jets to pull within 1 point of the Rangers.

For a while there I figured a Pens-Flyers first round matchup was a sure thing. Now? Not so sure.

Was posted earlier...

Corey Masisak ‏ @cmasisak22

#Pens Sidney Crosby has 131 points in the past 82 games he has played. Has a period left in Game 82, also.

21 points would put him 11th on the Leafs, just behind Gardiner

He is 12th on the Penguins.
