2011-2012 NHL Thread

Sharks coach Todd McLellan collapsed behind the bench during the game today.  They brought out a stretcher, but he eventually got up and was helped to the locker room.

Haven't seen any details yet.

EDIT: Apparently he was clocked in the head with a stick.

It's amazing <or not> how many freak / bizarre head injuries there have been in the middle of a headshot pandemic....power of thought?

Such a weird game in Montreal on CBC just now. I missed most of it but watched the habs blow a 4-1 in the 3rd and let  Minnesota take it to a shootout.

It ends with Setoguchi needing to score, he loses the puck and blows a tire turning to fetch it. Price skates past his sprawled body and handles the loose puck. Never seen anyone bail like that in a shootout before, he's going to be hearing about that for a while lol.

Probably the greatest shootout FAIL of all time.

This is how Florida plays defence.

That's a hilarious photo.  But Winnipeg has at least one too many guys on that rush.  One bad pass or miraculous defensive tip and it's a 4-man breakaway in the other direction.

Worse than Eaves http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=saZETkviq4o but maybe not quite as spectacular as Wideman http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hz3JQZ39Tn4 .  But particularly poignant for being for the loss.

I saw that on Yahoo. Interestingly, there was a play when the score was 4-3 where Pacioretty was skating towards the empty net and was sure to score to finish the game off. However, he was hooked a couple times, and fell down with no call.

The first time I saw it I thought for sure the Habs were robbed. After watching the replay a few times, though, he was definitely hooked, but it looks like he dove instead of fighting it off and putting it in the empty net.

Check it out - click the Yahoo Sports Link and select "a strange sequence involving a non-call" near the top of the article. The replay is not all that great, but it should be good enough.

Yeah, I watched the third and thought it was a dive.

The shootout was pretty hilarious, Setoguchi lay flat on the ice with his head down for a few seconds after that, epic.

While it looks like a jabbing hook, for sure, it also looks like bigtime dive by Pacioretty.

Everyone is getting into the spirit of London 2012.

Bruins have signed Marty Turco to a contract apparently. He would have to pass through waivers first. He is also not eligible for post-season play, but Rask is expected back by then anyway.

I'm assuming he clears waivers and plays maybe two or three games for them.
