2013-2014 NHL Thread

Ovechkin could unofficially score 50 in 50 (dating back to last season) with a hat trick tonight. He's also 3 goals shy of 400.

Didn't end up with any that game, but had 2 more today.  Needs 22 in the next 17 games to score 50 in the Caps first 50 games this season.  As Cam Charron points out, most he's ever had in a 17 game stretch is 20.  So it is unlikely, but still possible.

Hockey expert & HC@12 host Darren Millard suggested that Ovechkin was "done" as one of the league's top players / stars towards the end of last year. Another reason I take everything the media says with a sheet of acid.

You could probably compile a good list of media who said similar things.  I'd say most were mocked pretty good for doing so at the time, going by twitter at least.

That doesn't make me feel any better about the sheet of acid I just ate.

Anyone else hear about that whole Lucic in Vancouver ordeal?

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=439149

There's a brief video of it on youtube... some guy assaulted him apparently, punched twice in the face.

Something about Vancouver...remember Grabovski?

Oh yeah, forgot about that. And the guy sued Grabovski too.

But apparently Lucic has had all sorts of crap done to him and his family since winning the Cup.

There is something about Vancouver I guess... just a rotten bunch.

With all the antagonisic feelings betwee the Bruins & the Canucks...

(From the article):
InSaturday's game, Bruins forward Brad Marchand celebrated a goal by mimicking lifting the Cup and pretending to kiss his championship ring.

But Marchand doing that is the equivalent of saying "I climbed Everest and you came in a close second b*tch". Its not like the Bruins swept the Canucks in the finals. It was a game 7 win.

True.  Tell that to Vancouverites.  :)

Nobody remembers how many games it took. All people remember is who won and who lost.

I'm not taking anything away from their cup win. But to taunt players and show them up for something that happened two years ago is so classless.

Every other week it seems Julien is saying something he doesn't like or want his players doing.  Wasn't it the same in the playoffs a few years ago with Boston players mocking that biting incident - Recchi I think?

Either Julien doesn't care/encourages this type of attitude from his team or he does nothing but pay lip service to the media about it.

I don't find him genuine anyways.

Well, Tom Wilson of the Caps will be the next guy to get suspended after charging Brayden Schenn who falls down twice on his way back to the bench

Some bad blood between those two teams shaping up.

Pretty brutal hit on Schenn. Curious how many games Wilson will get.

It should help the 19-year-old Wilson to gain a reputation that when he's on the ice keep your head up.
