2014-15 Prospects Thread

Nylander has a new teammate:

Donald Brashear hasn?t played major professional hockey since 2010 when he split time with the New York Rangers and Hartford Wolf Pack. He then briefly joined the fight-filled LNAH before heading into MMA, a career which lasted 21 seconds after a TKO victory.
Brashear will need to dust off his old hockey gear and hop on a plane to Sweden after signing with Modo for the rest of the Swedish Hockey League season.

The news comes out of nowhere, but Brashear does have a connection with MODO. He and the team?s assistant general manager, Peter Forsberg, were teammates with the Philadelphia Flyers in 2005-06. And with recent games seeing youngster William Nylander targeted, the team feels bringing in an experience intimidator may help with that.

Said Forsberg of the signing: ?He's a type of player we're missing. He will provide physicality and security.?

They couldn't have found an enforcer whose actually played professional hockey in the past 4 years?

Does it really matter? Brashear is going to just as ineffective as anyone else.

Being half serious here....I think they should have sent one of the Leaf players under contract.  Either a possible future team mate like Broll or Devane or a not used team mate like Orr or McLaren.  Let a Leaf protect a Leaf.

I like half serious almost as good as half looney, of which I can relate.  Yes send the Brolldozer and Devane over and let them teach this Swedish herds what Canadian hockey is all about.
Man I love this idea.

Nylander returned to Modo's line-up and had 1 goal in their 3-2 loss yesterday.

MODO signs Brashear and in Nylander's first game back he does not get a head/neck injury from a fluke skate to the back of the head.  Coincidence?  I think not.

Just to clarify, Brashear hasn't made his season-debut yet. But the thought of him watching from the pressbox must have made Nylander's linemates skates terrified.

Nylander with a pair of assists tonight. Brashear also made his debut, I guess...

Proof positive.  Nylander with 0 injuries with a simple signing.  Goes from 1PPG pace to scoring at a 2PPG pace when in the lineup.  If we put him on Nylander's line I'm positive that Nylander will win the NHL scoring title this year.

It's interesting to see former Toronto Marlies player Greg Scott is 5th in SHL scoring with 23 points in 23 games.

2014 3rd round pick D Rinat Valiev was selected for the Russian preliminary roster. He has 19 points in 18 games this year.

Gauthier is up to 14 points in 15 games now and is on a 7 game point streak.  Started off slow with 1 point in his first 4 games back from injury but has been producing since.

He seems to be still growing.  He was 6'1" 190 lbs when he came to play in the USHL.  This year with the Kootenay Ice and Elite Prospects have him listed as 6'2" 208 lbs.

William Nylander isn't good anymore.  He's only PPG now with 18 points in 18 games.  4 points in his last 8 games.
