After all that . . .

Estrada has been much better than I expected him to be.

As a starter for the Jays:  61.2 IP  3.94 ERA
Take away his first 3 starts where he was still stretching out his arm and he has:
47.0 IP 3.45 ERA

This offense is brutal sometimes for being so dominant.

Left the bases loaded in the 6th with 2 outs
Left runners on 1st and 3rd with no outs in the 7th
Left runner on 1st with 2 outs in the 8th
Left runners on 1st and 3rd with 1 out in the 9th

Come on Gibbons.  He's thrown a million pitches but a flare single to the gap and you pull him with 2 outs in the 9th.  And boo to this offense for letting Estrada down.

Well the pitching has let the offense down a few times too.

And that combination is why they are going to have a tough time making the playoffs.

And... gasp.... a Blue Jay reliever gets a SAVE!!! :o

Delabar with the efficient inning to end it for the Jays. Wow! Good win!

Not so many pundits mocking the quality of the AL East now.  4 of 5 teams are at least 5 games over .500 and the AL East has both AL Wildcard positions.

And once again, looks like another year where the Jays have to go through multiple of the top AL teams just to get a playoff spot.  Feels like every other division has a year or two where it's easier than any year in the AL East.

Oh well, will just make it sweeter I suppose.

The 1st place team in the East is only 6 games over .500. Toronto would be farther out of 1st in literally every other division in the major leagues right now.

As for years where the competition is easier, what about last year? Other than Balitmore (who only charged late in the year), the East was pretty awful. And the Jays made no moves to do anything to take advatage of that.

I don't know, I'm just sick of the whining about the division. Toronto is 4 games over .500 right now. That's nothing to celebrate about. Terrible management and indifferent ownership has plagued this team for many years; having 3 teams in the same division slightly over .500 should be alot lower on the totem pole of complaints.

The Jays signed Vladamir Guerrero's 16 year old son to an International contract.  If he swings anything like his Dad it could be fun to watch him down the road.  He was viewed as the top International prospect so that's a great signing.  He's 16 and already is 6'1" and 210 lbs.  He projects likely as a 1B as he really doesn't have a good throwing arm but has a very good bat.

So ump calls Valencia out at home, standing right there and the catcher does not tag him at all on the slide.  Goes to review and is upheld.

EDIT:  What a joke - http://www.bluejaysplus.com/rules-thrown-out-on-valencia-slide-bad-umpiring-replay-edition/

Umps are absolutely brutal. This happens way too often. The replay system is the biggest joke in professional sports.

That being said, Jays still lost 12-4 anyway (and lost 3 out of 4 to a bad Boston team). Damn AL East/injuries/umps/nothing negative about AA ;)

What's most frustrating is that would have made it 8-5 with 2 men on and top of lineup coming up.  Oh well.  Frustrating series that was to watch, Jays bats went cold for the first couple of games which they should have won.
