2018-2019 Toronto Raptors Thread: "In Kawhi (& Danny) We Trust!"

O-kaaaaayyyyy!  Toronto leads Final 3 games to 1.

Raptors defeat Warriors 105-92.

The score says it all.  Or just about, as the Raptors come to life in the third & fourth quarters to put the game out of reach for Golden State.

After combining for 42 points at the half, the Raptors did to the Warriors what Golden State has done to them in Game 2 in the third quarter, basically run away with the game by racking up 37 points in that third quarter alone.  And who better to lead Toronto?s surge than The Klaw himself.

Kawhi Leonard had 36 pts., 12 rebds., 4 stls., & 1 blk., and scored 14 pts., in the first quarter and 17 in the third, and was a perfect 9/9 at the free throw line.  These were instrumental as he was just about the only Raptor who was getting the ball in.

Serge Ibaka was a monster defensively and offensively as he helped lead the  surge finishing with 20 pts., 4 rebds., & 2 blks., and was 9/12 in the FG category.  Pascal Siakam with 19 pts., 5 rebds., & 1 blk., and Lowry with 10 pts., 7 assists & 3 steals were the other Raptor shooters.

Too bad Fred VanVleet had to leave the game in the fourth quarter when he took an elbow to the head.  He suffered a gash near his eye and lost a tooth in the process.  VanVleet was effective in making life pretty miserable for the Warriors Steph Curry.  He had 8 pts.  6 assists, & 4 rebds.

The Warriors had Klay Thompson, and Kevon Looney back (yes, Looney of the broken collarbone), but the Raptors were at their doorstep taking care of business.  Golden State just couldn?t get themselves unhinged from Raptor claws.

Wow!  What a way to go, Toronto!  Just one more win....

I am very impressed by the way the Raptors have approached this season and the playoffs. Very patient, process-driven approach to complement and augment their star power. You can see Kawhi?s steadying presence where precious Raptor incarnations would have collapsed.

The way he calmly hit baskets in the 3rd quarter just seemed to lift the team and make them realize they weren't going to lose. It seemed like Golden State was panicking at a certain point just going for long 3s when they weren't even set.

And that credit goes to the Raps D. Funny how the Raps look like the dynasty team and GS like rookies. This series should already be over if they didn't crap the bed in the 3rd quarter of game 2. The Raps have dominated.
I don't hear anyone complaining about losing Demar now. I'm not a basketball fan but I find myself checking the score and watching now. Kawhi has become my fav T.O athlete. I love the no BS way he goes about things. The non ego, modesty he's shown and leadership is off the charts. The Raps as a team are following his lead. Ujiri deserves a lot of credit for having the balls to make that trade. I hope they win on Monday and hope Kawhi stays. This team could be good for a long run if he does and I think others will want to come also.

Gotta hand it to Masai for the balls of steel decisions he made in firing coach of the year and the huge Derozan trade. I know basketball is way different than hockey in that one or 2 superstars in basketball can win series for you, but I hope Dubas is taking notes. Sometimes bold moves at the right time make all the difference

I think Dubas is that kind of guy even tho hes very calculated in his process. I think we'll see him get very creative in the next few years and maybe even this summer. Could you imagine the city and probably country if this was the Leafs? Man it would be insane. Hope the Leaf players are paying attention.
Go Raps Go!

The city yeah but there would be a large portion of the country rooting against the Leafs, not like the support the Raps are getting. Sure there's Leafs fans all over Canada but there are also Leafs haters all over

Seeing how absolutely nuts everyone is going over the Raptors just makes me wish the Leafs were in this position.  I can't walk 2 feet at work without seeing/hearing Raptors, people wearing jerseys, Raptors talk nonstop.  Why Leafs?  Why?

Our time will come.

Brack to the drawing board.  Toronto leads Final 3 games to 2.

Warriors defeat the Raptors 106-105.

Thanks to Kawhi Leonard who had 14+ points in the fourth quarter and who led the Raptors on the board with his 26 pts., 12 rebds., 6 assists, & 2 stls., did Toronto even come close to matching the very sharpshooting Warriors put up here in Game 5.

Golden State, led by Steph Curry and Klay Thompson (& in part Kevin Durant before he went down with his injury), stayed in the lead until that fourth quarter.  Still, the fact that Curry & Thompson combined for 57 points, and that Durant went 3/3 on the 3 point FGs, shows the mentality the Warriors prepared themselves with, and despite some wavering (offensive fouls) from Cousins and Green in the closing quarter, Golden State came out the winner.

The Raptors had a grand opportunity to wrap it up and win it all, but, in the last few minutes of that fourth quarter, they went 1/6 while the Warriors were 3/3 in the FG department.  Ugh. Talk about when it counts the most!

Toronto just couldn?t finish the job.  They had the chance in the dying seconds of the game to surge ahead but Lowry?s awkward shot just went wide.  What a disappointment!

Nevertheless, the only Raptors who were making a fair amount of noise on the court were Lowry with 18 pts., 6 assists, 1 blk., & 2 stls., as well as Marc Gasol with 17 pts., and 3/3 on the 3 pt. FGs, and 4/6 in the FG category, Serge Ibaka with 15 points, 6 rebds., and 5/8 for FGs, and VanVleet  with 11 pts., & 3/6 in the 3 pt. FG department.

Not a very impressive group of stats.  Obviously the Raptors were not as mentally focused as they should have been, or better put, not very good with their shots.  This wasn?t their night, it was Golden State?s lock, stock, and basketball.

I don't know much about basketball, but the little I saw from Durant last night makes me think the Raptors would be in a world of hurt if he was healthy.

To translate it into hockey terms: imagine Tampa with last year?s regular season went ahead and added McDavid during the offseason.  That?s what Golden State did, except golden state was a little better than tampa was and adding a top-3 player like durant in the nba has significantly more impact than adding McDavid to an nhl team.

So while it is never cool to wish an injury on an opponent, GS still has 3 all-nba players in Curry, Thompson and Green and I dont feel all that bad for their luck.

Oh I get it, they're like a dream team, I'm just saying it's lucky he's not playing cause they looked near unstoppable the little he was out there last night.
