the OPP civilian call taker referred her to the wrong detachment and did not stay on the line - a significant error but not that sinister.

She got checked by her doctor for sexually transmitted disease the next day but didn't report it (circumstantial).
All she seems to have for incriminating evidence that has been reported is a call to a friend at the time.
I doubt that's enough for criminal charges - beyond a reasonable doubt.
They would have to flip at least one of the perpetrators (maybe one of the 16 year olds who got pressured) or get some other corroborating evidence (tough to do 10 years later).
So that is probably why the police would not assure her something could come of it criminally.

A civil case based on a preponderance of the evidence is a lower bar.
But she doesn't have as much as E Jean Carroll did - that could/might change.

Regardless, W5 is pretty credible. It's another nasty public smear of the sport.
If this woman is being truthful - which seems likely, I hope she gets the help she'll need.
Makes one wonder about how many of these we'll never hear about.
