?We wanted to formalize to everyone who is a part of the Leafs that we believe that if a team members? mental health and well-being were not being constantly supported and cared for, that their talent as athletes and staff would not matter much,? Dubas said via email.?
Dr. Popovic:
?In this high performance, hyper-masculine, hyper-competitive big business, where they?re the commodity, it?s very rare that they have a container whereas they move from 18 to 26, 28 years old, they have support in figuring out who they want to be.?
Alternate captain Morgan Rielly said he wants to make sure his teammates support each other in their own mental wellness by removing the stigma that is often associated with asking for help in such a hyper-masculine sport.

?It speaks volumes about where we?re at as an organization in terms of how we view that, in particular, but there?s many other things that would lead one to believe that we have a pulse on what?s going on.?
