2019-2020 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

Not really surprising the Leafs didn't do much today. The options for them were either something big or not much of anything, and, something big obviously didn't materialize.

Nik brought it up but there was a good argument that trading him just for the sake of trading him isn't necessarily a good thing.  If the return sucks, there isn't much value in it but I have to say I'd be pretty disappointed if we don't trade him if only to send a message to the team that their effort sucks and maybe the organization doesn't have faith in them to step up given they have had ample opportunities to do it in the past with "embarrassment efforts' not jarring them.
So you're trading to send a message to the team? So Barrie got injured Sat and was banged up, but insisted on coming back and play, according to Keefe. Sounds like he actually gave a crap when he could have easily bailed. You want to send a message, you bench guys and take away their ice time. It's that simple.

Just wait until Calle Rosen wins the Conn Smythe this year and Leafs are declared deadline day winners

I'm a little disappointed that the Leafs didn't get in on anything significant today but looking over the deals that got made the only one I'd have wanted the Leafs to snag would have been Ritchie.

Burke mentioned that Dubas was going to make a bigger deal to get help for the playoffs, but may have backed off after the team's recent struggles as the cost to get help was expensive. Paraphrasing, but that's what I got out of it. Burke also commented that it wasn't from anyone official.

Is Rosen playing on the Marlies?

He likely starts there, but could easily make up to the Leafs after a few games.
I believe I read that Rosen will be up soon but that would depend on Dubas. Also said Liljegren is going back in so that means Marincin is out!
I would have liked to see Dubas make a significant move but simply making a move to make a move isn't the way of going about improving the team. I guess the return for Barrie wasn't worth it after all.

Dubas in his press conference looking like a Valedictorian who has to explain his first semester 2.4 GPA to his parents.
