Leafs are back to a mosly full line-up (Liljegren the only player on the protocol/IR).
If all are back, minus Liljegren, and they activate Marner from LTIR, they'll have to make a move because they'll be over the cap. They can only carry 1 extra player, not 2. I don't think they can move Liljegren down while in Covid protocol.

Put Ritchie on waivers?  No one will claim him and of course if they do, it is a win for us

We'll find out tomorrow I guess.

So, this Matthews news aside, I wonder what you all think about the team at this point.  After all the postseason flops I have a hard time convincing myself that they are the real deal.  But they sure have looked like it after a wobbly start.  Like Nik said the other day, they crushed OTT like a dominant team should against a weak opponent.  They've held their own against the best teams they've played so far.

So ... real or not?

Real but I don?t think there is a good chance we aren?t playing a team that arguably is better than us in the first round.  It?s 1st in the division or play Tampa or Florida.  Hooray!

I mean, if your definition of "real" is that there's no way whatsoever that they won't have a disappointing playoffs then, no, they're not real. They look like a good team but if you think a good or even very good team can't play a less talented tight checking team with a hot goalie in the playoffs and lose...well, I think we know that's not true.

Nifty
At some point they're probably going to just third dose everyone and let them just play if they feel fine.
Hopefully at some point they just stop testing asymptomatic players, you know like they do in the public.

The reason to test people is to prevent spread. Being asymptomatic does not mean you aren?t a spreader.  Indeed, the most contagious period may be before you get symptoms.

By my math he misses 1 game . But it?s against Hyman, McDavid and the Oilers . Possibly 2 games missed with a PCR test not scheduled until tomorrow. And the 2nd game would be against Kadri, McKinnon and the Avalanche. Damn!

Right but my point being is long terms they aren't going to take all players out for being asymptomatic and testing positive. I just don't see this arrangement continuing forever.

What a turn of events, thought the Leafs would be facing McDavid without Matthews, but no, it seems Matthews will be facing the Oilers without McDavid.

I might have missed this and this was discussed elsewhere. But 2 leafs games this week are postponed not because of covid but because there?s no attendance?

He had two false positive Antigen tests, happens all the time. PCR tests are much more reliable and that is what gave him the negative reading.  They have done a follow up PCR test and results will be available before the game, if it comes back negative then he will be fully cleared to play.
