Will Kadri be doing a Lebron style ?the decision? TV special?

Kadri coming back to the Leafs.  750k.  "Unfinished business"

You know if Dubas traded Muzzin, Holl, and Kerfoot, and then signed Kadri to a $8 -9 million deal to play center for Tavares, I would be okay with that.

I think people forget (or maybe they don?t) that Kadri and Tavares are the same age.

Some people definitely do. I had a Habs fan friend of mine suggest someone would go 7 years on Kadri because, he said, he's only 26 - until I pointed out that he'll be 32 to start the 22/23 season.

They are stoked here in Ottawa.  I've decided today is my last day listening to the Team 1200.  They called Leaf fans "mid" today on the way home.  I just dislike the whole hate the Leafs first, love the Sens second mentality so I'll get my hockey insights from somewhere else now.

Kadri was my favourite player when he was here. Good on both ends of the rink. But no way in hell I sign him to that contract.

Actually bummed.

Ah, don't worry.  I'll come here to get my hockey news.  I don't need to listen to the team 1200.

I mean, on my way home I was just thinking to myself that these two radio hosts are in the middle of summer trying to bait Leaf fans into calling their show just to drum up controversy.  They are masters at it.

Do I really need to listen to two master baiters get off on putting down the fans of the Leafs because they are feeling pumped over the week that the team they cheer for has managed to put together?  No, no I don't.  I can listen to something else.

Oh wait, you meant the Dylan Strome thing.  Yeah that sucks too.  I was hoping he'd sign with the Leafs.

Ship out Muzzin and Kerfoot, and you've got the room....but I'm just not sold that he's got another PPG season in him.

Admittedly, he has two 30-goal seasons before this year's breakout, but, ya, I'm pretty sure this year is an anomaly. That said, I'm comfortable he's got a few more 60-70 pt seasons in him. Combined with his feistiness and defensive play, he's definitely valuable and deserves to get paid.

I'd love to have him back, but it's not happening.

Maybe. This was also only his 2nd 60+ point season (3rd, if you want to include his pace from the 12/13 lockout shortened season). You can count on him for a 20+ goal, 50+ point performance for a few more years, but more than that would be a bonus.

I'm not suggesting anything by it, but realistically, would what he'd provide to the team be any less than what Tavares does at this point?

I mean I?m not sure I agree with any part of that point.

4 years ago if the leafs could have traded kadri straight up for Tavares they would have in a heartbeat. And the isles would have flat out said no.

If kadri was under contract right now and you could trade Tavares straight up for kadri to bring him to the leafs I would absolutely not make that trade.

That?s just me, but I can?t say I agree with you on that assessment.

That's a pretty simple "yes" for me. Love Kadri. But he's not Tavares.

Would I rather have Kadri at $7M than Tavares at $11M? That would definitely make me pause.

Yeah, I'm with you and Joe on this too.

Just that I always thought Kadri could have been a viable replacement for Tavares if need be (when he was slotted as the #3 centre behind him; ie. in case of injury).

And a part of it is my concern that Tavares may start to slow down, quicker than Kadri will. But certainly some recency bias is factoring in.
