2023-24 NHL Thread

Davidson confirms it was a workplace issue that was reported and investigated and had nothing to do with other players or their families.

I feel like he?d have to say something along those lines, regardless. It?s a pretty meaningless statement.

All that really tells us is the team is aware of the rumours. Of course they?d try to downplay them. Without saying what did happen (which, they?re also not going to do), a standard blanket denial doesn?t actually tell us what didn?t happen.

They are doing the right thing but it needed to be explained earlier (even in the early stages prior to the full investigation). Nature abhors a vacuum and they left themselves open to abhorrent internet nonsense.

I am more curious than ever after that presser. I?m glad he said he said no
player?s family were involved though. Most reasons people get fired are not nice things but curiosity is infectious especially when the flames get fanned.

Good on them to make a statement to kill the ignorance going around.

Even though he denied it, we know that rumour will continue to circulate until the reason is actually revealed.

He didn't outright say it, but based on the presser and referring to it as a "personnel incident," it sounds like it's some kind of harassment issue.

This is what I think as well, reports now are alcohol was involved,  sounds like Perry shot his mouth off in a very bad way.

Ya, part of the problem with alcohol, can lead to massive meltdowns in front of the wrong people.

About 15 years ago, a friend did the same thing, got loaded at a very swank party, called out the owner of the resort (where he rented a restaurant) and next morning was found dead in his apartment. Unfortunately the guy he a called out was a ol' Sicilian Mafia guy.  Go figure.

a la Jim Montgomery's dismissal from Dallas.

Despite being forced to walk away from a contract that still had two and a half years remaining, Montgomery insists the dismissal saved him.

?I think I deserved to be let go and I don?t think I deserved to earn money for my actions,? Montgomery said. ?I didn?t do the right things. Those are things I ask of my players all the time. But I didn?t do the right things.??

and Alex Galchenyuk's issues before the season started.

Ottawa lost 4-2 to Columbus.  Somehow they have only played 18 games on the season so they still have a bunch of games in hand but how does DJ Smith still have a job.  Ottawa has 14 games in December including two games against the Leafs.

He's in his 6th season with the team.  They finished 7th, 6th, 7th, 6th in the Atlantic and currently sit last in the conference (2nd last by point percentage).  The Senators did the same thing last year with 17 points in 22 games and made a run to finish out of the playoffs.

Well, now I know I'm so old...Hedman is at 1000 games played.

F me.

Do you remember when Cesare Maniago played goal for the Leafs?

You're just a kid.
