Nice remarks from Mark Lamb on Valis. Might be a late bloomer. Seems to anticipate well on where to be to finish in the clips I saw.
 
OEL, Lorentz & Domi are nursing injuries and will be a game time decision tomorrow.

There is a good chance Jarnkrok will be cleared to play tomorrow - if not, then soon.
Maybe I'm missing something but unless someone goes on IR/LTIR, they may have to make a roster decision on a NHLer (not Steeves or Rifai) because they will be exceeding 23.
(Edit Pacioretty is on the IR. Didn't see that when I posted. So they have roster room for Jarnkrok & Dewar. With the trade deadline, something is probably going to have to give.)

Good chance the lineup will look different tomorrow or soon.

The fight for first in the Atlantic just took a 45 degree turn with Florida picking up Seth Jones and the Lightning nipping at the heels of the Leafs. Toronto needs to do something before Friday to shift the balance of power back in their favour.
 
Only 6 teams are more than 6 points out of a playoff spot

Three of them have already used all their 3 retained salary options. (SJS, CHI, NSH)
Pens have used 2. BUF & SEA none.
A team could be brought in to help with that but it is harder to put that 3 way deal together and probably more expensive in terms of talent that has to be given up.

They're looking for a right handed dmen to play with Rielly. There are not a lot of those available.
They're looking for a center like many of the contenders.

Laws of supply and demand suggest acquiring talent will be expensive because it is in short supply with higher demand.

On the upside, they do not have to land a blue chipper to improve their roster

No thanks. No need to get into an arms race. They rarely produce a real winner.
 
Tanev to IR (not LTIR) so is still eligible to play after the San Jose game that we already knew he was missing. Dewar was activated

He was recalled Nov 12th and sent back Nov 30th on an emergency basis
He was recalled Feb 18th and reportedly returned Mar 1st?
If both Nov 12th and Nov 30th count and Feb 18th and Mar 1st count, then he might have needed waivers because that would tally 31.
But he never played in games on Nov 12th and Nov 30th. There was no game Feb 18th and he didn't play Mar 1st. So there would be a fair chance he would not be counted as on the roster for all those days.
But because he was recalled on an emergency basis Nov 12th, I think that also helps him avoid waivers.
