That's pretty crazy, haven't really seen that discussed before. 12 goals against there is most in the league, 5th highest on a per/60 scale. Last season they only gave up 9 goals all season with the other teams goalie pulled and that was of course with worse goaltending and no Tanev.

Just comparing that to some other teams Dallas, New Jersey, Winnipeg, Montreal, Tampa, and Carolina have all only allowed 2 goals against an empty net situation. Most of those teams have played almost 20 minutes less than the Leafs have in that situation but Dallas actually leads the league in TOI there at 60 minutes (Leafs are 2nd at 59 minutes). Pretty remarkable for the Stars.

But the issue, while physiological, is clearly not one of those broken bone situations that is good to go after it heals.

I was thinking he might be dragging down Marner's numbers, but then I look at their other linemate and maybe Marner's his own thing. He has always looked less than his eye test on RAPM.

Nylander, Knies and Rielly were very impressive in all playoffs they were in.

the series the Leafs won against Tampa, Matthews, Marner, RoR and Tavares also were good.

They had little success but not all of them were alwful. The series against Florida Bobrovki was unbeatable.
 
I am content with our roster. I would like a depth D man for sure but upfront we're okay. I think it's on Berube to better manage his toys. 2 lines? Come up with something more original.

Is Cowan eligible for the playoffs if shit hits the fan and we go down 2 centres?

If his junior season is over, potentially.
