And why wouldn't he? 16 was coming back from high ankle sprain and probably not even close to 100%. Add in they're friends.cabber24 said:Any update on why he missed time in the playoffs?
Watching him live: "really sick and took a weird hit, that's all I am going to say about that".
He's sticking up for "Mitchy".
They take months and months which is why I will cut 16 some slack. Hrudey mentioned it during a broadcast in GM5 or 6 that Woll is still fighting the injury. I read a quote from may7be Simmonds or Bog that said some injuries take a year before you actually feel comfortable again.L K said:No one is going to throw players under the bus. One, Marner might be back next year if he refuses to waive his NMC or the team doesn't find a deal they are happy with. And beyond that, hockey players never throw shade like that.
This wasn't the first time Mitch struggled in the postseason but he did have a high ankle sprain. Look at how mediocre Woll was coming back in February. These injuries take forever to heal.

What am I missing here? How is Staal and his -14 a selke candidate? To be honest I didn?t even know he was still in the league.

I was fully expecting him to say something like he tore ligaments in his knee or ankle off the McAvoy play.

Yeah I don't get it either. The season is over, what are they hiding? Teams will disclose injuries during offseasons.

And he shouldn't have to. It's non of anyone's business. I ask without trying to stir things up. What difference will it make if he has X injury? Will it make you feel better? Bottomline is the doctors and himself decided he couldn't play so something was very wrong. Good enough for me.Bullfrog said:Zee said:Peter D. said:I was expecting a more concrete explanation of his health issues during the playoffs than the vague response we got today.

I mean, ultimately his personal health is his personal business. Maybe he just doesn't want to disclose?
L K said:I don't think it's wrong for Matthews to not be a Hart finalist because all three players that did get nominated had phenomenal years but it seems bizarre that a guy who put up 69 goals AND was a Selke finalist isn't considered one of the three best players in the league.
Player's know. I think he has a good chance of winning it...69 goals is incredible.CarltonTheBear said:https://twitter.com/frank_seravalli/status/1788223699390533665
I figured Matthews had a much better chance of winning, or at least being nominated, for this one.
