Draft Pick Watch - WE PICKED NYLANDER!!1!!

A lot of Leafs fans seem happy with this pick. Any chance this guy is ready to play?  Why were so many down on Richtie who was rumored to be on the Leafs radar?

Ritchie would have been a good pick but his high end skill isn't as high.  He's a big guy and it's still projection that his offense translates to the NHL so it would be more about the Leafs chasing after an elusive dominant power forward rather than getting some pure skill into the system.

I think Rutherford was trying to add depth, the knock on Pittsburgh was that they had a bunch of plugs surrounding their great players.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them make at least one more of these type of deals, I know everyone advocates quality over quantity, but perhaps Pittsburgh's situation is the exception to that pretty reliable rule.

I hope Nylander is the real deal for the TML.

From what I understand, Ritchie has more size, but less skill.

It says a lot about fans faith in management when the assumption is that they'll screw up massively and people are ecstatic simply for avoiding a terrible move.....

These draft reports always exaggerate but they make him sound like Datsyuk:

Nylander is a waiting highlight reel to happen, incredible possession game for a player his size and has the puck on a string. Ability to make defenders look silly with his absolutely slick puckhandling and elite craftiness on the puck. Explosive skater as he skates in gears up ice, can burn any defenders at this level with his outside speed. Possession game is like glue, incredibly hard to separate him from the puck.

Well Lord knows we have a multitude of examples

Maybe the best thing about this is Thommie Bergman would have had a ton of input with this pick and he's probably our best scout.

Leafs table looked like a bit of a mess just before they selected. Anybody notice how red Nonis's face was? It was Gillis rouge.
