Game 13 - Leafs @ Bluejackets - Thursday November 3rd, 2011 - 19:00 EST - 4-1 W

Awesome...Gardiner gets blown by, Scrivens makes the save and then gives Gardiner a tap on the shin, just to say, "I got you bud."

Am I right in thinking that the puck has to be in over the line before the player?

Nash skated in backwards, body first, which should've been offside, no?

Not if you're in full control of the puck

Really? I thought if a player tries to avoid a hit and say puts his skates over the line but keeps the puck behind the line, and then brings the puck in he puts himself offside. I'm relatively positive I've seen a player put himself offside more then a few times in many years of watching hockey.

Are you telling me I have false memories  :'(?

I cant stand this new Hockey Central theme. Every time I hear it, i expect Ron Maclean in  a roots sweater announce bobsledding is on next.

It seems to be the sportsnet theme, it sounds like what they play before the 20/20 updates on the fan.

I'm pretty sure the puck carrier coming in skating backwards is an exception to the rule.

It certainly should be anyways. What sort of purpose would a rule against skating in backwards serve.

It would protect against hits from behind  :P

Fatigue is not the Leafs' friend tonight. Fortunately, Steve Mason was. ;D

Pretty much said it all.

They looked tired against Ottawa Sunday too.  Back to backs with travel is always tough.

Either way nice to steal the 2 points

Usually in that case it's his teammates who go offside, but if he's trying to avoid a hit, maybe he doesn't have full control of the puck?

So now what to do with Scrivens, think he still goes down much the same way Reimer did last year until he came back for good.  He has done nothing but been effective at every level, much like Reims.
