Without looking it up this very moment I wonder what the lowest shots against has ever been in an NHL game. Surely the Leafs against NJ in the playoffs several years back has to be close.

How many was that again?  6?

I think so. That was indeed a dark day in Leafs history.  ;D

It was also BS.

They didn't have many shots, for sure, but it was probably 10-12.  Whoever the shot counter was in Jersey damped down the official total to make the Devils look even better than they were.  Cherry called it right after the game and it was one of the few times I've ever agreed with him.

I hate to say it, but I think Wilson needs to go back to Gus tonight. He's not going to improve sitting on the bench.  :-\

Agreed..and on a more important note, it would be nice if the rest of the team showed up to support him.

That said though, it's possible the staff simply sees something in Gus that makes starting him not an option right now... There guys (goalies) tend to a funny heads.

Hendricks and Seigel say it looks like its Scrivens.

See, I see that as a real "no confidence" vote for Gustavsson. If they're not going to give him a chance to figure himself out, just get rid of him. He's of no use.

Wilson is on a short rope. He needs to do whatever he thinks will win the next game - his outlook is very short term. So I agree, he has no confidence in Gus.

Apprently having 4.07 GAA gets you a start in the NHL.

Leafs need a solid performance in net tonight to take the pressure off.  Why do I feel so doom and gloom about this game?

They can't do that until they know what they've got in Scrivens though.

And, I imagine that's part of the reason why Scrivens is getting the start tonight. They pretty much know what they'll get from Gustavsson and, odds are, Scrivens isn't going to provide much less than what Gustavsson has in his last few appearances. Might as well give him another shot to show what he's got.

Or deal for a dependable #2.

dont count him out just yet Scrivens is going to be a good one. we need a team effort.

I'm trying to support Gustavsson all I can, but I agree with this.  A terrible decision (surprise!) by Wilson.  Even if Scrivens has a good game, which of course I hope he does, where does that leave you with the guy who's the supposed #2?

Alright, I won't count him out just yet.  But if he doesn't end up being a good one, you have to promise to not support the next undrafted free agent goalie we sign, just so we can eliminate you as the reason they keep failing to work out.

It's November 10th, the Leafs are still near the top of the conference, and yet this feels like a must-win game if ever there was one.  I have a feeling that any points we can accumulate before Reimer gets back are just bonus points right now.  Are we going to see Reimer start another run come January like last season?
