Hendricks and Seigel say it looks like its Scrivens.

See, I see that as a real "no confidence" vote for Gustavsson. If they're not going to give him a chance to figure himself out, just get rid of him. He's of no use.

They can't do that until they know what they've got in Scrivens though.

Or deal for a dependable #2.

dont count him out just yet Scrivens is going to be a good one. we need a team effort.

He is?  Based on what, 1 good game you have seen him play?

I mean, I sure hope Scrives will become a good one.  Thing is, I have NO idea if he will.  Neither do you.  Or Wilson/Burke for that matter.  No one will for a while, until like Busta and Bullfrog said, we see what we have in him.

I just get irked when people say things like, 'so and so player will be a good one, just give them time' based on nothing other than hope.  We seriously have no idea what kind of player an undrafted, 24 year old rookie free agent goalie will become.

Aside of beating the worst NHL team in the league Scrivens has been abysmal. I don't see how he warrants a start.

What credentials earn Gustavsson the start?  There are only 2 options right now, who else can they start that's "earned it"?

I'm no Gustavsson fanboy but he went into MSG and beat the Rangers playing extremely well (aside from the 1st goal). For that he got rewarded with sitting for 2 games. His last start he was unlucky for the first two goals.

What has Scrivens done?

I didn't say Scrivens had done anything more noteworthy, but the Leafs are out of options at the moment, it's either Gustavsson or Scrivens and neither one has taken the job.  The game you're talking about was 2 weeks ago, Gustavsson was playing well then, had the next start and beat Pittsburgh, then should have been rested in a back to back against Ottawa.  He let a soft goal in to lose that game, if anything else it was Wilson's goalie management over that span that screwed the Leafs.

No, what Gustavsson was rewarded with for that game against the Rangers was starting the next 3 games. He's not a martyr here. He was bad in his last start and he wasn't exactly spectacular in the 2 starts before that either, and, in light of that, the team has every reason to try someone else and to see which Scrivens is the real Scrivens - the one who started against Columbus or the one who started against the Bruins.

Except that you won't find out who "the real Scrivens" is on the basis of a 3rd game in the league.  If he sucks, should we release him?  And if he doesn't, should we anoint him?

Gus was the #2 going in.  He has a .500 record -- just like Scrivens.  Both have played about equally badly.  Now is the time to give Gus a string of games to see how he does night in and night out.  And, to Wilson's credit, that's just what was happening until Scrivens shone against CBJ.  So I can't blame Wilson for giving him another shot after that.

But now it should be back to Gus to see if he can overcome his inconsistencies.

I agree with many here. It appears some dark days are ahead for us until the goaltending issue is figured out, but I think the Leafs can pull off a win tonight. 5-4 Leafs.

If we lose this game because of bad goaltending we are in deep trouble. A 5or 6 game losing streak may follow and we will be at the bottom of the standings instead of the top. We really need a win tonight or a miraculous recovery by Reimer.

The goaltending has been bad enough, but the team isn't exactly scoring much at the other end of late either.

We need to score a few and get the confidence up front back as well.

7-6 Leafs in OT
