Game 2: Sabres at Leafs - Sportsnet 7:00 PM

Pretty simple.  Pass.  Pass.  Pass.  Pass.  Pass.  Pass.  Pass.  (All the while never actually move to make the defense adjust and make sure you have absolutely noone in front of the net).

Also the Leafs really only have the one deadly weapon, that being Kessel's shot, that teams really have to worry about. So long as they keep him at relatively bad angles it boils down to Phaneuf's ability to score/the traffic they can generate, neither of which is an appreciable strength.

WHYYYY 5-on-3?

Yeah.  I have no problem with puck movement on a 5-on-3, but the Leafs seem to do a lot of it without much purpose or forethought.

See, plays like that by Holzer, no pressure and just ices the puck for no reason, those plays cannot happen.

13-5 leafs outshoot the sabers and trail, terrible power play is the reason.

Shoot more and crowd the crease.

We sure make goalies look good.

Yep when you're best shot on the 5 on 3 is a winger skating across and launching a 30 ft wrister, any goalie who doesn't let in a softie is shutting you down.

Still need more traffic in front of the net on the PP, not bothering Miller enough for my liking. Put Kule on the 2nd PP unit and park him in front of the net; he's literally spent almost half a season in Russia doing exactly that.

Kadri made some very good plays on the PP, he seems to have more creativity this season, which is a bonus. Nice to see.

To me, that's something I've always seen with Naz and he has been the better of all the Leafs since his first training camp.

MacLean: "...yeah, but y'know I thought their powerplay was real good...they deserved better...great movement"

Anybody else having a hard time listening to Kypreos talking about how great the fighters were when he pretty much trashed the league and their "gladiator" mentality when he retired from the game?

Why Kadri wasn't out there from the beginning with Kessel is beyond me.  They are the only two forwards showing any sign of being dangerous this season.  Lupul and Bozak are both pretty inept in their ability to create space / shooting lanes. If they're not going to do what they have to do they should be on the bench.

Also Liles has got to stop floating give-away wristshots in from the point on the PP.  Shades of Luke Schenn.
