Yeah, I'd say it has little to do with 'liking' Carlyle, more that he's asking them to do things they really haven't done all year. It's tough for a one way team to suddenly adjust and like you say, goaltending hasn't been great.

At this point I think this qualifies as optimism.

Every team has an adjustment period with a new coach. With only 18 games left and a totally different style of play it was a tall order for a dejected team to turn it around. Look at Carolina, it took them 15-20 games under Muller before they started to play better. It was too late with Carlyle coming in and the circumstances of the Leafs going from almost sure playoff team to being out just sucked the life out of the players.

Leaf fans should stop buying tickets now and starting filling Ricoh and support our Marlies.  Now that is a team that has bought into a system.  Make a statement for once Leaf fans, it is like we deserve this destiny of anguish heaped upon us.

I very much want a high draft pick, but how they have mailed this in is disgraceful.  It makes me wonder whether any part of the current group can be part of a successful solution.  I doubt it.

I can understand why you doubt it but I think there are significant parts of the team that will be fine going forward.

As a group they really do just seem defeated right now, it's kind of sad but I'll take a decent draft pick and hope there's a 'development machine' a la Stewie somewhere down at the ACC.
