Subtle shot at Kadri.

I would too but the choice would really be Kadri vs. Bolland + whatever you could trade Kadri for.

True, although so would Kadri's extension next year.
L K said:Most of it is a load of junk. He definitely has a bit of an ego about his game, but it honestly really isn't any different than 90% of players who have a lot of faith in their own abilities. Again for some reason Kadri's is apparently this sin amongst men.

Sometimes I wonder if his race is a factor in the perception, E. Kane and Subban seem to face the same kind of criticism.

He's full of himself. He makes faces on the bench. He shakes his head after some penalties.
A bunch of stuff got attributed to him in his last year with the Knights when he was playing on a fairly pedestrian team. He literally carried that team on his back but in doing so would play selfish at times (he would spend the 1st half of the game trying to set up his teammates for goals and they would flub passes or fail to score on tap ins), then in the 2nd half of the game he would go into goal-scoring mode deke through 4 guys and try and score by himself. This somehow earned him the reputation of being selfish and a guy who was full of himself.

CarltonTheBear said:I can't imagine Kadri's contract ever carrying negative value though. Bolland's potential contract (6 or 7 years at $4-5mil per) scares the crap out of me.
Nik the Trik said:Maybe but if Kadri starts out hot next year and scores roughly the same over his first 45 games as he did last season how comfortable are you giving him, say, five years at 7 per?

It's possible, but Patrick Kane and Tyler Seguin also received similar treatment over "off-ice" issues.

Not comfortable at all. I don't think a smart GM offers either of those contracts though, but that's a different problem to address I guess.
Nik the Trik said:Well, and I acknoweldge I'm speaking hypothetically here, but if you're Dave Nonis you might have a sense of what kind of contract Kadri might be looking for ahead of time.
