Interestingly, the leafs have a winning record against every division except their own:

NE:  5-10-0  <-- damn you distribution!!

ATL: 6-2-1
SE: 6-5-1
Cen: 3-1-0 <-- those are some good teams
NW: 2-1-1
PAC: 2-0-2

That 5-10 record is directly the fault of Boston's 0-4 and 3 out of 4 against Sens.  That's 7 of the 10 losses right there.

Man those 2 wins against the Isles were sorely needed.  5-4, have to wait an entire week for game 10.  However, I'll post an early upcoming "next 10"...starts with Pittsburgh (so there's a home @ home with them right after the break)

It seems that the Leafs goal for this year is to squeak into the playoffs.

Too bad, because they won't be competitive in the playoffs anyway, and whether they make the playoffs or not they are still (at least) a few years away from being the team that Burke used to talk about.

I would have no hesitation at all about trading away Lupul and others to give this team prime assets that will begin to peak in 2 - 3 years. If not, then it looks like mediocrity is the only achievable goal.... and we have lived with that for far too long already.

We might do ok against the Bruins (according to DGB)

Toronto Maple Leafs - "May finally be able to get a win against the Bruins this year, now that they know that Tim Thomas will refuse to show up if you just crowd enough left wingers around him."

IF the Leafs make the playoffs in the #8 spot and IF the Rangers end up #1, I actually don't mind that matchup.  Leafs have played well against the Rangers.  That's a lot of IFs though.  ;)

Honestly, the playoffs are such a crapshoot these days that it almost seems pointless to worry about matchups or wonder about their chances to advance at this point.

True but it's fun to actually be able to have these types of conversations again when for years the Leafs haven't even been close to playoff spot.

Sounds like somebody missed his flight?

It's all in good fun.

It's just banter Louis.

I think they probably allowed some guys to make their own flight arrangements since many would have been off on vaction after last night.

Certainly seems like Gardiner was supposed to be on the charter and missed it though, probably celebrating his first goal.  He tweeted about having difficulty with his iphone alarm.

I didn't know where to put this other than general Leafs talk but........

A friend of mine brought this up to me the other day to put perspective on how long its been since the Leafs won a cup.

In 1967............. Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields Forever, All You Need Is Love, Baby You're a Rich Man, Hello Goodbye and I Am The Walrus were all new songs that the Beatles released.

Hey Jude and Revolution came out a year after that. Let It Be came out two years after Hey Jude.

It's too bad that we can't digitally remaster winning a cup.

Is it too much to ask for the Leafs to win 6 out of 10 again?  Haven't done that since the first stretch of 10 games.  That would go a long way into the helping the playoff chances.  I mapped out a possible route to 6-3-1.

Huh... Totally forgot... Anyone remember we got a draft pick along with Lupul and Gardiner for Beauchemin? ! As it turns out, it's a 4th rounder in 2013. What a trade!
