For sure, the Detroit game will be a better indicator. The Leafs have played very well tonight, but on the flip side Montreal has just been bad, and like you said possession wise are usually bad.

That and I want to see how the Leafs play on the road.  Montreal isnt' a great possession game and are playing a defensive road game.  How do the Leafs handle a team that is attacking more.

Bernier not so good in this game despite only 2 GA.

It's been a typical Bernier game. Early goal, decent amount of rebounds, with some good saves in between. Then again, that's probably most goalies which doesn't exactly say much about Bernier.
