Official meeting place of the Kadri Cadre

8th in NHL scoring.. oh man the contract he is going to get this summer will be ridiculous.

Ridiculous might be pushing it. He's not going to get drastically overpaid for one good half season. Depending on the length of the contract, I could see it being anywhere from $3mil to $5mil. Obviously if it's going to be a gap contract of one or two years it will be $3-3.5mil. The more years added the higher it goes.

I also really don't see the Leafs giving him 6 years, again just because of the small sample size. A Duchene-type contract is much more likely than an Eberle/Hall.

6? no probably not.  Probably 2 or 3 years but it will be a number close to $5 mil, IMO, if he keeps this pace up.

And I'll just leave this here:

Nazem Kadri is second only to Crosby in points/60, assists/60 and first assists/60. http://bit.ly/ZEBeEK

Shall we label him "inconsistent" if he doesnt maintain /at least/ second place in these metrics next year?
No.  We shall label him BUST!

How ridiculous?

Closer to $5 than $3 per year, IMO.

My guess is exactly a Matt Duchene contract for 2 years $3.25 year 1 and $3.75 year 2 for a $3.5 MIL cap hit.

...but then again I thought Lupul's suspension would have been 1 game when you guessed 2.

He's equal with Mike Ribeiro for 8th in scoring, 14th in Goals, equal 16th (with Kessel) in assists and 12th in the League in +/- on +17

379th in Average Time on Ice / Game.

No doubt he deserves a big chunk of change, but $5M? That's too much for a half a season.

3 years at $3M per? Remember we were all so worried about guys like Kulemin's contract, and he came in pretty reasonable.

Yeah, they need to keep second contracts at a reasonable price. It rewards the players effort, but also keeps the incentive for further development at a high range. I don't have any stats on these things, but you can see glimpses of a pattern, where players get the big payday and their numbers and effort appear to diminish.

That probably has a lot to do with character, and for the record, I don't think it would be that way with Kadri, if he gets more than he probably should right now, but I also think that young players need to work their way up with consistent play, before they get the mother load.

I think 184th among forwards in TOI/game is the far more suitable expression of his ice time.  There's only one forward in the top 60 TOI/game among all skaters.  Still quite amazing for Kadri.

I like the way he 'celebrates' when he scores.  He's obviously pretty worked up and excited on that ice with the enthusiasm he shows.  Way to go, Nazem!

There is no way that you give out a 5 million per year contract to someone who hasn't proved themselves over a full 82 game season yet.  Assuming he continues to produce at the rate he is for the rest of the season I would peg him in the 3.5 million range on maybe a 2 or 3 year contract.

I don't think anyone would have a problem with 2 years @ 3.5m per year.

I guess we'll find out how greedy Kadri is.
