I see something 3.25-3.5 year for five with bonus's

Can not See BB getting tied up on salary cap with possible bonus problems. Will be straight salary

In part, I suppose, because there are no more performance bonuses allowed that could affect the salary cap on Schenn's deal.

Seriously folks. Pretty rudimentary cap stuff six years in.

A few sources (McKenzie, Siegel, Kypreos, Mirtle) are reporting the Schenn deal is close and will likely be done by Friday.

It's rumoured to be around $4 million a year. I like Luke and all but 4 million for a non-scoring dman? He might be worth that in a couple of years, but I had him maxed at about 3-3.25 max. Unless it's for 5-6+ years, I don't think I like it.... yet.

That would seem high. Bogosian just signed a 2 year deal for $5Million , $2M first. $3Million second , so avg. and cap hit of $2.5 Million

Well, I'd say Schenn has been significantly better than Bogosian, who has been really been a disappointment - porous defence and underwhelming offence . . . not exactly a combination that leads to high salary.

As for $4M being high, that all depends on how long the deal is. If we're talking 2 or 3 years, then, yeah, it's on the high side, but, if we're talking long-term, that changes things.

I'd just like to draw attention to the fact that Kyper was wrong on the Bogo deal. Don't know how long ago it was when I  made comments about Kyper being generally unreliable...but I think I still stand by it.

Yeah, they want BOGO to prove himself. I think it depends. $3-3.5 short term(2-3yrs), $4-4.5 long term (4-6yrs). Although Regier really broke the bank with the Myers deal @5.5 per.

Is the Myers deal official?

I think 4 million per is just about right regardless of the term. Some here are undervaluing what a really good defensive defenseman is worth to a team.

I disagree, generally I find him to be quite reliable apart from the occasional  minor detail on contracts.

To me, unreliable describes hacks like eklund and his type.

Yeah, I've found Kypreos to be pretty sound.

I find some to that with forwards too. Far too often folks look at goals and points as the starting point for determining a player's worth. Any guesses on what Peter Zezel in his prime whould get as a UFA these days?

What was the Myers deal?
AFAIK 7yrs, 38.5M. Should work out to roughly 5.5M/yr

That buys what 3 years of UFA? I don't think that's a terrible deal for Buffalo.

In a few years I bet that deal will look very similar to the ones that Burke gave Getzlaf and Perry.
