WJHC (World Junior Hockey Championships) 2016

Marner gets filled in from behind on the PP and then Virtanen takes a stupid penalty to negate a potential 5on3.

Like I don't even get what Virtanen's motivations were there. There was only 15 seconds or so left in the original penalty. Let Finland touch the puck and overlap the penalties as much as you can.

I honestly don't know why Virtanen isn't the 13th forward at this point.  I feel like it may have something to do with handshake agreements about sending a guy from the NHL.

Maybe some will disagree, but what I don't like about the coaching here is the way that Canada is still working to get offense on big point shots. Virtually all of them in the whole tournament are getting blocked.

With the big ice, they should be driving the net off the wing. Ive seen very few players just wheel up the boards and cut in on the net.

Nah, I brought up the exact same point in the last game too (although Marner scored on a big blast like that literally as I hit post basically).

Think Canada needs to rethink their goaltending selection process next year. Haven't been impressed with any of them.

Dumb penalty by Perlini, imo Blackwood doesn't look all that good, I would switch goalie now to get a new start if I were Canada.

Way too long a shift for the Marner line there.  If he is going to coast around he might as well get off the ice... Marner needs to skate with a little more urgency like Konecny or Barzal.

Not sure why Blackwood came across the net as low to the ice as possible on that play.  Hard to fault him after making the first save but he really doesn't look good.

Problem is Canada just hasn't been generating any good goalies lately. Blackwood had by far the best save percentage for goalies in the OHL this season.

I won't blame it all on the goalie but it's very hard to play any sport while trying not to allow any shots. Our goalies have been bad all tournament.

Love this stuff.

I'm interested to see how the new overage goaltenders not counting in the OHL will affect this.  It's good that guys will get more development time but the 16/17 year old goalies are going to get even less of an opportunity to play now.
