This is apparently what the Islanders third jersey will look like this season:

It's refreshing to see a team embrace being the biggest laughing stock of the league as fully as the Islanders have.

Is Ovechkin out of shape?

This video is making the rounds.  Apparently, there is quite a bit of concern that Ovy lost himself a bit this summer.  Obviously it's just a video, and we really can't tell but to me, it looks like he has very little muscle tone and a nice gut similar to the guys in my beer league.

I have no doubts he will be ready but it's amusing none the less.
 
He just kinda looks like he is normally.  He's slouched a little which would make his gut look more prominent, but he's never really been in great shape.

Agreed. If nobody had pointed it out and I watched the video his gut would haven ever crossed my mind.

Now, speaking of fat NHLers, Dustin Byfuglien was arrested last night on suspicion of boating while intoxicated. Apparently according to the police report his weight was 286lbs. He played at 245lbs last season, and has had some weight issues earlier in his career.

Jeebus. He's going to have to drop 35+lbs awfully quick if he wants to be close to as effective as he was last season. He's not going to be very mobile if he's pushing 300 lbs.

Biron's mask is very sharp looking. Jiggy's is also very nice, simple but still very striking. Brent Johnson's also got that Zep vibe that I like. Bryz's is just... I don't really understand what he's going for.

Yeah, it's pretty crazy to think about how strong he is on the ice but the guy has little to no muscle definition.
