2011-2012 NHL Thread

Anyone watching the Crosby presser care to post the main points? thanks!

Based on Dreger's tweets, he probably won't start the season, but he's improving. Won't play until he's 100% but, he's working on his conditioning right now. Basically, nothing new.

EDIT: Not close to being cleared for contact, either. No surprise there.

Kind of seems to be saying that Crosby isn't all that close to returning but that they expect him to make a full recovery.

That's pretty much how I read it. He may not play for a while, but he will play again at some point.

Pretty much. I mean, based on what they said, he could miss the season or he could in like November. The only things they really ruled out here was Sid being ready for camp or Sid considering retirement. Everything else was left in the same grey area we already knew about.

Wow, press conferences are generally for news.

I tend to agree but this could be an "okay, now just leave me the eff alone" attempt by Crosby and co. I suppose answering the same question over and over again can be tiresome.

Yeah.  But best to get this out of the way before camp starts and there is even more distraction about why Sid isn't there... not to mention the mass hysteria that would ensue.

If they didn't say anything, and he doesn't show up to camp next week, how badly of a distraction do you think that would have been then?

At least this way it bides him and the Pens some more time without causing such a big hoopla at camp and asking every single Penguin, "Hey Kris, when's your buddy Crosby coming back?"

I guess that's true.  In that case he should have actually ended the conference with "now leave me the eff along!"  ;)
