2016 Lead up to the Trade Deadline thread

It wouldnt' surprise me if there were a few Leaf trades in the queue right now. Nothing major, but I can't imagine none of the pending UFAs were moved.

Winnepeg, Rangers, and St. Louis all confirm they made no moves today.

So how long after the deadline is the latest we'd hear about a trade? Guessing that as long as the paperwork is lodged before 3pm they could be announced anytime today?

It can take a couple hours. Usually, most deals are out there by aroudn 4 or so.

Isn't that usually when things are very busy?

Doesn't seem like that right now, never say never I guess.

When things are busy, or the trades are somewhat complex and take more time with central registry and such. Also, sometimes, teams hold off on announcing moves until they can inform the players involved.

PAP should have known.

I know that most of the interesting names out there were moved earlier in the week, but, I can't believe how dead today was. You'd think there'd be a point where teams would just accept whatever prices were out there instead of trying to haggle more.

PAP to the Ducks.

No source, just a gut feeling.

*said every Leafs fan who just read Chris Johnson's tweet about ANA not being done*

;)

It was a combination of that and Cox saying the Leafs didn't confirm they were done.

Apparently I need to improve my gut health, as Dreger reports the Leafs are done.

Leafs did not make a trade today.

I'm surprised that none of PAP/Grabner/Boyes were moved, even for scraps. But obviously the Leafs aren't the only ones scratching their heads a little.

Yeah, I guess. Maybe just nobody wanted Boyes/Grabner?  To be honest, I can't really get a read on the Leafs right now. Trading Reimer seems like it was aggressive but doing nothing on anyone but UFA's indicates maybe they weren't so much?

PAP's really hurt maybe? That's the only way that makes a bit of sense to me.

Meh, would have liked a few more deals to go down, but overall I'm happy with the haul so far.

Now we just need to move Kadri and JvR in the offseason.

Maybe, but PAP? Then again, with the way things went today, I guess that's possible. This where the soft market came into play, I suppose.

Except I don't know I buy that the PAP to the Islanders report would have come out no nowhere either.

I wonder if maybe the Leafs bought into the "Grrr, we're not going to just give players" away mentality Burke was talking about.

Maybe this is going to be the Leafs Achilles' heel?  Holding out too long to get the price they want.  I doubt not moving, PAP/Boyes/GRabner today comes back to bite them, but when you look at something like the Phanuef deal, did they really gain a whole lot by waiting one more year?

Possibly, or the few moves we did see get made were the teams that were interested in PAP going with other options, and maybe Parenteau was always lower on their lists?

They gained a better long-term cap position than the rumoured deal from last year. And, if they can turn Cowen/Greening/Michalek into anything, then, yeah, they definitely gained by waiting.

This is a big fail guys.  Maybe PAP is injured, I don't know.

So that whole reclamation project and turn it into draft picks strategy has to be rethought somewhat.

Can we point to one that worked out that way this year?
