MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
So who's going to the Marlies when he's healthy or is he allowed to be sent down because the Leafs originally lost him on waivers? He's listed on IR on CapFriendly

Based on how I read the relevant section of the CBA, they can send him straight to the AHL, because they lost him on waivers this season as long as no other teams put in a claim (and, considering the Leafs are near the bottom of waiver priority, this seems likely). This might be complicated by the fact he was also claimed and waived by Montreal, but, my interpretation is that the Leafs are still good there.

Yeah I'm very mildly curious to see if this still applies. I think you might be able to make the case that they only would have been able to do that if there were the only team that claimed him when Montreal did, but in this instance Montreal is the "original owning" team that had this right. Either way I'm sure they have some sort of plan here.

Have to imagine the Liljegren demotion will only be temporary until they clear some cap space (likely by just trying to waive Brooks again).

I figured Brooks would need to clear waivers again (if we even want him to).

Announce the Ritchie trade, cowards!

Haha. Waiting for the next habs trade so Leafs can steal their thunder with the big Ritchie move!

Can Ritchie  be a valuable addition for the Leafs on the Playoffs ? He sure has the bio type to be very physical, and I think he is more effective than Clifford on that. a Good 13 guy who can step up when needed.

Unless trading him clears the cap that we need for a top 4 D so Holl could be replaced on that role.

His cap hit maybe more valuable right now and at the deadline.

His cap hit to let the leafs get an upgrade on the blue line is more valuable

We'll all agree that Liljegren is more valuable than Adam Brooks, so I'm going to assume that something is up here.

Dubas using his waiver exempt to add depth up front. I think something's going to give because I don't see them putting Brooks back on waivers. Unless Vegas needs to dump a contract, they'd probably take him back and put him in the minors.

If the Leafs don't make a move soon (waive or trade) they could keep Liljegren in the AHL for a couple weeks until the team accrues enough cap space to fit both him and Brooks under the cap. The Leafs have a busy schedule in that span so he'd miss 7 games.
