I know there are bigger issues these days, but can I just get a shoutout for the photographer (and the editor who selected the image) here for the Pinocchio allusion?

Under parliamentary rules, members of Parliament and senators are released from their duties and no committees can sit during the prorogation period.

“Bills which have not received Royal Assent before prorogation are ‘entirely terminated’ and, in order to be proceeded with in the new session, must be reintroduced as if they had never existed,” the rules state.

Several high-profile government spending plans are now in limbo — most critically the $1.3-billion border security plan included in the fall economic statement.

Tariffs are guaranteed now and we plan to sit idle while the economy implodes. This country is directionless. It's tough for business right now and it's going to get worse in the interim.

I wasn't at all surprised this is the direction though. It makes sense that the leader of the party would step aside and give the party a reasonable amount of time to pick a new leader. Proroguing has been done many times in the country's history and this being a minority govt this shouldn't be that surprising.

I know it's fun and expedient to take shots at JT and that's fine, but I really hope people stay engaged in politics and hold the next PM, likely PP, a career politician, to the same standard. Although I personally could do without any F*ck Polievre slogans.

Having zero plans in place to deal with the impending tariffs and Trump isn't good enough. Trump will run his mouth and bully us while we sit idle until late March, then go through an election, and then wait for the new government to implement its plan. We won't have federal input until the summer. If you export you might as well lay everyone off right now and see what happens. I think things will get really ugly when Trump takes office, especially with the Feds MIA.

I suppose the provinces are on their own to beef up borders to appease Trump.
