Agreed

I thought so too, until I saw the replay. Phaneuf was about to get possession of the puck and Brown totally got his stick up in Phaneuf's hands.

Now he shouldn't have retaliated with a cross-check, but there should've been 2 penalties or none at all.

Really.  When you are 30th in PK you cannot do idiotic things like that.

Au contraire, how can we improve the PK if we don't practice it frequently?  Good move by the captain.

It didn't look like much of a cross check to me, not as bad as that one against Buffalo on Kessel that went uncalled.  I've come to expect plays like that to go uncalled, unless they are of the extreme variety, so I was surprised that one was called.

Non-calls happen though. Retaliating is never a good idea regardless. Phaneuf needs to be smarter than that.

IIRC, the notion of having Connolly with Kessel and Lupul was for 5 on 5 defensive play with Bozak centering them on the PP.

Army didn't look right to me last game for the most part, not surprised he's sitting tonight.

What a joke listening to this whole controversy about not having a french speaking coach in Montreal. Only thing I can say is WHO CARES.

Well I for one am happy because it essentially means they'll hire a coach who isn't the best qualified which means he'll be fired prematurely and the cycle can continue over and over.  ;)

It's kind of amusing, because 22 of the team's 24 Cup wins came under an anglophone coach. So, I say good for them.

It doesn't necessarily mean that. What it means is that their pool from which to choose a coach is diminished. it's possible the best coach comes from that pool; less likely, but possible.

Well I can't think of a French coach who fits the top of all pools so....

You know, I'd be curious to see if there is a relationship between PK success and shot blocking. I understand the thinking on it but I sometimes think the instinct to block shots leads to a lot of out of position defensemen and screened goalies.
