Game 9 - Leafs @ Rangers - Thursday Oct 27th 2011 - 19:00 EST - 4-2 Win

And if anyone wants Scrivens to play, I don't know if that would be great for his first NHL game - home opener at MSG, after playing last night (getting a shutout!) and having to fly back from BC.

Yeah. I mean, I really want Scrivens to get some games in (and steal the backup spot from Gustavsson), but, tonight is hardly the time to do it. If Scrivens does see the ice tonight, it'll be because Gustavsson has a repeat of his last start against the Rags.

Gustavsson starts for TOR vs. NYR, Scrivens backs up. Reimer still on shelf. Sounds as if Connolly and Bozak in, Kadri heading to Marlies.

People like to predict/state what they would like to see for the game ahead so I will go with - 6-0 Leafs with 3 for Kessel, 1 for Connolly, 1 for Frattin and 1 for Phaneuf.

Even with Goose in net, I think the Leafs win this game.  I think their speed will be too much for the Rangers lackluster D.

4-2 Leafs.  Frattin finally gets his first.

Disappointing about Reimer as we were a Colby Armstrong away from finally seeing a complete, healthy club for the first time.

Gus is 1-3 against the Rags. They've lit him up for 5 and 6 goals in two of those losses. He's got an opportunity to make a statement tonight - hopefully, it's a darn good one because I think they'll need it.

Rangers played 7 on the road to start the season. And they did that with Marc Staal out. Sauer also missed 5 games but he's back tonight. I think Ryan McDonagh is underrated. So they're arguably better than their record might indicate. With a team 1.86 GAA, they continue their tradition of recent years to be very stingy defensively with great goaltending. So far though, their offence has been at the opposite end, 2.00GFA. I suspect it's due to breakout.

Opening the new MSG, they're very likely to be an excited/inspired opponent. We waterbugged them early last season for a OT win but they waterbugged us back badly for a 7-0 shellacking. Tortorella isn't likely to be surprised by whatever Wilson tries. As you'll recall, these guys can skate.

Cross your fingers. This is likely to be a tougher game than it might appear to be on paper.

So I guess it's probable that Scrivens plays tonight midway through the 2nd.

After a loss in regulation I'd just like to see us rebound and get points instead of starting a pointless streak.

Sure there will be losing streaks throughout an 82 game schedule but keeping the frequency and duration of them down will, obviously, be key to this teams success.

This is going to be a very tough game.  Other than our first game against them last year (4-3 win, Kessel OT goal) they played us very, very tough.  One thing I remember is that their D is very big and physical and block a lot of shots.  I agree McDonagh is very underrated... as is Sauer.

Our forwards might have a tough time generating any sustained offense tonight.  Hopefully we can get a few past King Henrik.

I just had a premonition that we'll see Scrivens between the pipes at some point during tonights game. I hope I'm wrong, and Gus is able to hold down the fort and get the 'W' tonight.

Gus is pretty brutal, so I suspect this may be a loss.  I don't think Kadri deserves to go to the AHL either.  Poor things are happening right now.  I get it, Reimer is hurt, but stop putting Gus in net, more harm than good is hardly a remedy for success.

TIMMMMAAAAAAAAYYYY!!!!!

Connolly is playing?  Really? For real? Like, no BS, bubble boy will play tonight?

Well he still has to walk down the hallway from the dressing room to the ice, so you'll have to wait until the game starts to know for sure.
