Looks like it will be a real  battle for open spots next year on the Leafs,  Kozun, Carrick, Nylander, Brown, Leipsec, Levo and hopefully Mcdavid or Eischel (or Strome) to the mix. Could be a much different 9 up front.

Not to split hairs, but any of the CHL drafts the Leafs make would either have to spend time with their Junior clubs or with the Leafs - no option to spend time in the AHL as an 18 year old.

He's talking about the Leafs, not the Marlies.

Actually all the players mentioned except this Junes picks have a year or two under there belts in the AHL and all are options to play with the big club for 15-16.
And the conjecture is that McDavid and Eischel will both step into the NHL without time in the minors.

Does anyone know if Colton Orr and Fraser McLaren are injured? Or are they just scratched night after night?

This is from a couple of weeks ago:

When they are out with injuries it's often described as a tweak or a bruise, likely just to their egos though I would assume.

Yeah. I imagine a lot of their injuries are the types that every day players would play through.

I'm trying to figure out what this means..

They likely won't be playing hockey professional next season, so better figure something else out.

I mean, why appliance repair? Is it a knock on their intellect? On the appliance repair business? And if one can't figure out there from they're, should one be taking that shot at someone? So many questions!

Haha, that's fair. For the record I respect all appliance repair people. When my stove stops working I'll probably just starve.

These guys, barring Kozun, need some more AHL development.

A rebuild is actually around the idea that players develop together properly in the development leagues, then bring them up into the NHL when they've developed/graduated.  You keep repeating that process so that you're consistently graduating a few players every year.

This also keeps their contract status a little more team friendly by not cutting short their RFA years by fast tracking them into an NHL lineup.

Would be pretty funny to use draft picks + trades to assemble a lethal top 6 in the AHL and then promote all of them at once :-)

All Frattin does in the AHL is score.  18 goals in 41 games this season, 51 goals in 98 career AHL games (.52 GPG).

He was prolific prior to being a pro too, I wonder if he'll be a guy like Ryder who figures out the NHL when he's a little older.

That is what I was thinking.  A hard hitting, skating, scoring 3rd line rh shot in a couple of years.

Not much by way of assists, though, which is generally an indication that there's limited offensive ability there. He has an NHL calibre shot, and that's going to lead to success in the AHL.

The way this leaf team is playing, give Frattin some time with Kadri to see if there is any chemistry between the two. Why the heck not?
That is if Kadri can get out of bed on time.
