The 2014-2015 Toronto Raptors Thread: Why Not Us?

The Raptors have completely fallen apart.  38-26 now on the season.
13-19 since the start of 2015.
2-9 since the All-Star break

Bracing for a lockout in 2017 should be expected, not that it needs to happen. A lot is going to depend on that off-season summer meeting in Vegas.

Monday night, Raptors beat the Houston Rockets 99-96, with Demar DeRozan recording a career-high 42 points and outduelling the Rockets James Harden in the process.

Other scoring contributors for the Raptors were Valenciunas, Johnson, & Williams.  The Raptors limited Harden defensively with some smart work by DeRozan & Valenciunas.

The Raptors, by the way, officially clinched their division  a week ago, in a road win against the Lakers.

Pretty significant up and down struggle for the Raptors.

They finished the season with a franchise best 49-33 record that puts them 4th in the East but the division champions for the Atlantic for the 2nd year in a row.

They will face the Washington Wizards in the 1st round.  This is probably a good thing for the Raptors if they get through the 1st round as they will likely end up facing Atlanta instead of LeBron and the Cavs in the 2nd round.  Not that Atlanta is a team to dismiss but the Raptors struggle against the Cavs and they play Atlanta really well.

Raps fall down 2-0 heading back to Washington. This could be over quickly. :(

One thing I don't recall hearing much of when discussing playoff opponents was that Washington upset Chicago in the first round last year. A lot of folks seemed to be happier to avoid Cleveland in the second round.

Yes, it's true,  many were hoping the Raptors could avoid LeBron and the Cleveland Cavs (since they had some trouble playing them during the season).

Of course, landing Paul Pierce & the Washington Wizards was thought to be a 'weak' opponent (one the Raptors had it easier playing against them during the seqson).

Guess the mind games Pierce initiated must be having some sort of effect, but others would put it to the Raptors go-to guy Kyle Lowry not quite being 100%.

I'm expecting the Raps to win the next one in Washington at least.

Being a sports fan in this city is losing it's appeal.

Agreed!
After such a good regular season and finally getting a Toronto team to qualify for the playoffs, it is a huge letdown to watch the Raps lay this egg vs. Washington!  :-[

Everything that looked promising about this team is gone.  Dwayne Casey should probably be fired for his use of Valanciunas.

Valanciunas got 25 minutes again.  Why is he not playing?  He's honestly the only guy who can rebound.  Just because he's not Tyson Chandler Casey seems unwilling to use him.  The guards have been garbage since the All-Star Break.

That and the Raptors brought James Johnson in to be a defensive presence and Casey hasn't used him for a single second in the playoffs.  WHY?
