Wings @ Leafs - Mar. 29th, 7:00pm - CBC, TSN 1050

So the Leafs record is 10 losses in a row.  They are heading for #8 tonight.  Oddly enough that losing streak was from 1967.

May as well sack Carlyle tonight and get a new guy in with a few games to look at what he has to work with.

Or more likely keep Carlyle and trade all the good young players for Clarksons.

Nope, Gardiner was stationary and bobbling the puck around.  But you don't brook any criticism of Gardiner, so that's that.

Gardiner had the puck and Kessel tapped it off his stick and the puck went into Gardiner's skates. Then he fumbled a bit as a Wings player was right on it him but he was able to knock the puck forward into open ice where Rielly picked it up and went off. You're making it sound like Rielly had to steal the puck away from Gardiner.

Well, as several have said it's for the best that they are going to miss.  At the very least there is no way they can't fine Carlyle now.

Let him coach the rest of the season. Last time we picked up a coach after an 1-hour search it didn't work out very well.

Rielly bails out Gardiner again....

He never bailed him out a first time.  Is this Gardiner hate going to be every game?  I need to ready myself if so.

Sure did, on the goal he scored.  Went back and extracted the puck while Gardiner was fumbling around with it.

I don't hate Gardiner, as I've said several times.  Justified criticism isn't hate, right?

Gardiner had the puck, Kessel skated by and went to take the puck from him and tapped it slightly knocking it off Gardiner's stick.  Gardiner recovered and fed it to Rielly. Just watched it.

Not sure how that's bailing him out, and if it is it wasn't Gardiner's fault.

No, sorry that's not how it happened.  Literally just watched the replay.  And in any case, Gardiner recovered possession and fed it to Rielly.  That's not 'bailing' him out if Gardiner was able to make the play to him.

Good thing Randy is nice to the media, hardly getting any criticism that I've seen from the MSM.

Yeah fair point.

I'd still get rid now and let them play the rest of the season with no coach. Might well play better.

Maybe Clarkson can coach.

Would that be one of his intangibles?

There aren't a tonne of options on the market right now from the established groups, so I would agree with that.  See who gets canned in the offseason and then make a detailed assessment of the minor league guys too.  Don't rush it.

I still cant believe that the Leafs were sitting comfortably third in the Conference just 3 weaks ago

9 points clear and all the confidence in the world after taking 2 of 3 on the west coast. Disastrous.

Phaneuf is playing in a 100% defer the shot position on the PP to Jake Gardiner.  It makes absolutely no sense...and I like Gardiner's wrist shot.

He got his original deal on his PP one-timer and goal totals, then came to the Leafs and...they've never set the PP up to feed him one-timers.  I've never really understood that.  Always playing him and Franson on their strong sides, so many lost one-timer chances.  Everything run through the half-boards no matter what.
