Is there any ETA on Muzz's return?

Original ETA was 4 weeks, and tomorrow will be the 2 week mark. He did skate yesterday for the first time but I doubt that changes the original projection much.

So we'll likely only have him for the final 5 games or so. Blech.

Anyone have any preliminary thoughts on who we should draft with our first selection in the draft? I was thinking about Nico Daws. I know goalies are voodoo but man we are so bereft of goaltending talent in the system save for Woll & Scott and both are whatever at this point.

Trying to project 2nd round targets seems like such an impossible task. Ideally I'd be trying to use that on a player with 1st round skill that dropped for whatever reason, like we were able to do with Robertson last year. We (currently) have 9 picks after that though so I'm down with grabbing a couple goalies with those.

I feel like trying to draft European goalies could be the better bet though. Or NCAA guys. It's just with CHL goalies they generally only have 2 more seasons of junior before they need to start playing professional hockey here and that's a tough thing to do. Especially for goalies who are getting picked in the mid-to-late rounds.

Daws in the 2nd is bit of a reach. Most projections have him going late in the 3rd or early in the 4th.

The Leafs probably have two gimme games left on the schedule with a game against Ottawa and Detroit on the schedule.  Florida might have four of them with games against Buffalo, Ottawa x2 and Detroit.    Florida is catching Dallas in a slump and have games against Boston, St. Louis and Washington (last game of the season and maybe a meaningless game for either team).

This really isn't going to a fun stretch unless the Leafs really pick up their play.

Leafs also have games against a not very good New Jersey and a struggling, inconsistent Columbus.

Although New Jersey is 11-5-5 since the All-star Break.  Not world beating but not entirely push over territory either.

I'm hoping the Panthers' new goalie craters. He's a career journeyman thus far into his career.

No, but that record is also somewhat deceiving. 6 of those wins came against LA, Detroit (x2), Anaheim, Ottawa, and San Jose - who just happen to be the bottom 5 teams in the league right now. In that stretch, they're 4-4-2 against teams currently holding a playoff spot. Still not a pushover, but a game the Leafs should win quite easily, if they show up (which they didn't so much out west against 3 of those bottom 5 teams, but, those west coast road trips never seem to bring out the best in the team).

There are no gimme games. This is the NHL, not the beer league. Leafs gotta play hard and Freddie has to be Freddie.

You got that right.  I would hope that a team that managed to lose to an EBUG understands that now.

I wonder how the teams that have lost to the team that lost to an EBUG feel.

They feel 2 levels below an EBUG.  I don't know if that means beer league, or what.
